I really like the look of the Corbin Gunfighter seat, What are the pros and cons of having one on your bike. It there any quick-change mod to put the orig back on in a jiffy for your pissed off significant other when she just has to go riding with you???

I have one of the earlier model Corbins that attaches to the shock mounts, just like the stock seat. Works just like you describe. Although I have to admit that my SO will not ride on that ironing board that Norton called a seat. The Interstate seat is much more comfortable two-up. My stock Roadster seat only goes on when I need that "completely original" look, which is for photos only.

Anyway, you might keep an eye out for a used one. If the cover is damaged and you can buy it right, I would think an auto upholstery shop would have little trouble making a new cover.

"Pros"
Corbin Gunfighter is a bolt on seat. Fits Commando without modifying bike/frame.

"Cons"
Too damn expensive (in Norway) - very nice seat indeed !

Mark,
Ask Corbin about the Gunfighter w/ lady option. Seems like I've heard Corbin can make the gunfighter with a seat pad behind the driver.

I have two Commandos. One with a gunfighter and the second with a seat purchased from Old Britts. Frankly, the seat I bought from Old Britts is more comfortable, has appearance closer to stock and has a "cafe-like" hump at the rear. Both the Corbin and Old Britts are spendy - there may not be much price difference.

I have 2 Corbin Gunfighter seats, one on a '76 T140 and the other on a '71 Commando. I like the T140 seat a lot but I think the seating position of the Commando seat puts you too far forward and too close to the handlebars.

I have a Corbin on my 850 Commando and don't find it too far forward. I'm 6'2".

Why not opt for one of the BCS units?

Solo seat

Two-up seat

I have the solo for my T140. Quality construction and comfortable. Plus, it looks like it supposed to be on the bike.

What's better, your bike won't be yet another Commando with a Corbin GF seat. Don't get me wrong, the Corbin looked cool on the first 5 Commandos I'd seen it on. But after seeing the 500th, it kind of lost its magic.

The corbin gives the flat firm surface needed for long hours at a time riding.

Bad part is that it shortens the distance to the foot pegs making a more cramped position.

Another option I've found is to take the original seat or pan to a custom seat cover shop (automotive) and have a seat built to your specs.

I did that on my suki and got the perfect seat for only $124.

rockersj, would you happen to have a picture of that seat on your T140?
