My Head gasket from Phil Pearson is going to last me years. It is 0.002" per layer, I measured the gap it is very tight on a 0.0015" feeler so I reckon I only need one or two layers. The barrel does not have a liner as such, it is a Nikasil barrel supplied by John Cronshaw

Andy ... Please let us know how the Nikasil barrel works for you. Without the top lip of the OEM liner fitting into the no empty recess in the head seems it could possibly cause an issue with detonation. hmmm? But then Cronshaw should know ...

And speaking of Pearson ... A few days ago Phil Emailed that he has a crank and cases ready to send me. On 'n On we go.

There is still a spigot on top of the barrel, it's alloy rather than iron.
It just needs a very thin gasket, one or two layers.
I have today machined recesses around two of the head bolts to take O rings. I have converted the head to "through bolt" fixing, It meant I had to plug and re drill the drain holes. There is still a remnant of the original drain between the stud holes and the pushrod tunnel, hence the need to seal the studs
