In " The Service and Overhaul manual for the AJS and Matchless Single Motorcycles " covering 1958 to 1964, by F. Neill, there is the following fork spring data for the heavyweight scrambler model CS ('62 ) :
P/N 016782 ; Free length, 12 -3/4 "; wire gauge, .212".
The data for the CSR : P/N 021790 ; Free length, 11- 1/4" ; wire gauge, .222".
For interest sake, the length given for the Heavyweight touring model is 11.90",wire gauge .212", and for Heavyweight sidecar model, length,12-3/4, wire gauge .222".
Buffer spring data for all models, except 350cc Trials ; P/N 022079 ; Free length , 2-25/32; wire gauge,.192".
This may be of some help.

I am reassembling a pair of 1961 G80CS forks and I am having some challenges. Namely on reassembly there is a gap of approx 1.5 mm between the lower leg and the srew on fork slider. I'm thinking the seal and maybe the plastic bush need to be driven in more. Any thoughts or advice on getting them fully seated..
Thanks!
Tim
