I've recently bought an oil-in-frame Firebird Scrambler whose wire exhaust guard sits far too high at its rear end, and am wondering whether an earlier version has been fitted by mistake? However, despite having different part numbers, all attempts to find out if the rear mounting point on the pre-oif guards is different have failed. It also occurred to me that perhaps the position (and length) of the threaded mounting boss on the H piece may differ between the models? Any thoughts would be most welcome.

Brad

Might have solved the problem! Having found a photo of my old '71 Firebird, I see that the threaded boss on its H section is mounted centrally, whereas the one on my current FS is in the same higher position as the 1970 models with their upwards tilted silencers.

Brad: Welcome to the forum. It's a friendly, helpful group, no replies just means none of us who are looking knows!
