Kind of off topic but also seems pertinent in this forum, mods please move if not in the right place.

The New Yorker published a cool write up of the history and details of Isle of Mann. Ive always wanted to attend and found it to be a pretty good read.

That is really cool, cheers for sharing. I was just talking to a lad who has been living on the Isle of Mann for about 10 years. He won't even drive to the shop there!

Great write up and video. Buildings and barbed wire fences on the edge of the track. Whoa!

Only on N in Isle of Man.

God rides a Triumph but wishes it was a Norton.

I had the distinct pleasure of attending the Classic TT this last August at the Isle of Man. I was asked to be a pit member for Alex McLean. I thought I was going to only be the fueler during pit stops, but ended up serving as the primary mechanic as well.

As a side adventure, I volunteered to serve as a Course Marshal when there was a shortage of marshals, threatening a practice day. I served up on the mountain at "Mountain Box." It certainly was an enlightening afternoon there watching the riders come through from that perspective.

With any luck I may be back next year.

Had a brief conversation with Alex at Barber this year about his trip to IOM. He seemed genuinely enthused about his experience even though he did not get to race. Hope next year things will go better for him..
