Hey Everyone,

Been a member for years and need some help. I'm relocating to Charlotte, NC in a few months which means I'm moving 600 miles from my British bike riding friends. Are there any forum members from the Charlotte area who might be interested in connecting to get some ride time in this summer or perhaps know of some riding/ bike clubs?

Thanks,
Dave

I live nine miles west of CLT airport near Belmont which is just across the river ...traffic in charlotte is hell but...my house is three miles from the town of Stanley which is the 'jumping off' point for some great country roads riding with little traffic...my pal calvin and I also ride NC182 from lincolnton from time to time this road goes through farmland and has a couple of villages along the way....you can join us....oh if you can get a lil trailer and bring bike here that would be good since as I said before charlotte traffic is awful ...(one of the reasons as many as can are escaping and coming to live over here)

Alan - thanks for replying. One of the areas that I looking to relocate is Lincolnton but I haven't settled on a specific town yet. I will definitely look you guys up as soon as I get down and settled.

Alan - Well I made it down to the Charlotte area - Lincolnton to be exact. I have both my '72 and '05 Bonneville's on the road but haven't put many miles on them as I'm still getting settled in my house. I wont go into the Charlotte traffic on a bike but the surrounding roads are pretty nice. I'd love to meet up with folks in the Charlotte if there are any events or rides.

Dave, I live in Winston-Salem LOTS of Britbikes in the area and great roads! I get to the Charlotte area on occasion though I generally ride north of here, mountains just a short hop away. Several events through out the year, some places that do vintage breakfasts/rides on Sunday mornings I'm sure we'll cross paths sooner or later! Welcome to NC!

dave this weekend looks bad weather wise but during the next couple of weeks maybe we can meet up at the Lincoln county courthouse circle and ride 182 to fallston...I know a couple of sideroads that branch off 182 or we can head back this way towards Lucia/Iron Station/Ingleside Farm Rd etc..

That sounds good - I'm away this weekend but not much else going on for the foreseeable future so I'm up for it.

Welcome to the neighborhood !

We ride to Rosman all the time for the BBQ at the corner of 64 & 215. There's a food truck in the parking lot of the white water outfitters. You're going to love the roads and scenery and people you find. In fact we were going there today, but heavy rain came in.

You'll be within riding distance of the Three State Mountain Ride (Blowing Rock in May). There's also a classic bike/ beer fest you might like called the Meltdown (Hendersonville in April). Then there's always the Blue Ridge Parkway, one of my favorites. And of course, parts and excellent repair services in Winder, GA.

Hope to see you on the road.

Don't hide 'em, Ride 'em !!

RF thanks for the suggestions. I've heard of the 3 states ride but don't know much about it and will have to research it. Cant wait to get back on the bike again - its been about 2 years of reduced riding. Looking forward to meeting everyone and getting some miles under my belt.
