Hi all,
I need a sound 4 gallon tank to suit an A50. Finish not an issue, as I will rechrome & paint. This tank takes the large metal badges.

I have a sound 4 gal tank available for trade / sale, but it is from 1967 (smaller plastic badges).

Thanks,
Richard

Hi Richard , I'm guessing you've already tried Vintage & Modern down in Maddington.
Though personally i reckon WA's pretty much a total desert when it comes to finding anything at affordable prices for British bikes ?

Another place to try is Jon Munn at the Classic Motorcycle Warehouse over in Melbourne > http://www.classicstyle.com.au/
I bought and shipped an A75 off him in the past and I know he also sells good original used parts ,

That place bodine mentioned is > http://morriesplacecycle.com/inventory.html

I just usually keep a lookout on US eBay for any parts -

Can I ask who does your chroming ? ..
last couple of tanks I had done here in Perth a couple of years ago cost me $400 a piece cry ouch !!!
>> Even then they tried to slug me an extra $150 on top because "Quote" his polisher guy overheated one in the
buffing wheel process & put ripples into it that they then had to pay a panelbeater shop to remove ??..
"Bloody Scam I reckon" ..
Now i'm too frightened to even think about using the word "Chrome" shocked LOL

Steve

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the responses.
Steve, Tony from V & M had a stroke a couple of months ago, and is slowly recovering. The shop is open on Saturdays only. He doesn't have a tank.

I have written to Chris.

Re chroming; I have a lot of british bikes (my wife reckons too many but I have stopped listening), and always have the tank restored.

I prefer to use Ultrachrome. Not the cheapest in town, but quality chroming (no shortcuts); you only get what you pay for. I have had several tanks done by others (cheaper chrome at the time) where the chrome has bubbled (rusted tank underneath) after around 10 years, and then had the cost of re-chroming properly, plus a re-paint. Ouch; never again!

Richard

Hi Richard,
Thanks for the info there on Ultrachrome , I'll pay them a visit next time I've got something in need of chroming , I used Vinci for the last batch - Pretty descent chrome job 'But ?' I can do without the mid job fairy tails aimed purely at bumping up the quoted price .

That's really sad news about Tony , I didn't know !! .. I hope he makes a good recovery .
It was only a couple of weeks ago I phoned them up just checking I still had the correct phone number for Brian over at Spoke wheel services > I thought maybe he'd moved shop again because he wasn't answering his phone for few days .

Steve
