Running from demons in WNY
When I was building my successful land speed racing Triumph I took the advice of the late car tuner Smokey Yunick, "beginners should concentrate on making the engine reliable even it it means giving up a little power.....You can't win if the engine fails"
This video from Kevin Cameron shows how little simple things make a big difference...

Smokey also said "If the rule book doesn't specifically say something is "illegal," I have to assume
what I do IS "LEGAL."

And, yes, reliability is the key to winning.

When the Triumph Grand Prix bikes were lapping the track at great speeds Joe Craig, the race chief for Norton,
wasn't concerned; "Will they be there at the finish line?"

The Triumphs WEREN'T. The Manx Nortons WERE.

Reminds me of the day I passed a buddy in the woods. He on his new Husqvarna 701, me on my old XR400.
Passed him like he was standing still.

Because he was...
