This auction is about 20 miles from me. If anyone here should win, I could pick it up and store it short term.

Add those pictures to the Y bike thread! It looks like a '67 Lightning engine # but the rest looks later (BSA stamping on the raised pad).

1967 A65 Lightning
1967 Triumph T20 Mountain Cub
1967 Moto Guzzi V7
1969 B44 Victor Special
1966? Royal Enfield Interceptor

A65LA,....... LA is a '67. So that makes no sense to me. I thought Y bikes were unsold '67s sold at later date? This is a later case with an earlier stamp. I must not understand the Y thing after all this time.......... Maybe just a replacement case stamped to match the frame?

Down to 1 BSA, 2 Triumphs, 1 '56 Chevy
Oops,.. add 1 Sporty

Y bike threads are worse than oil or tyre threads.

The potted summary is that:
Y (without a '-') bikes are 1967 models with the revised 3 pipe oil manifold and 6CA points plates.
-Y bikes (with a '-') are 1970 models with 1967 style numbers for some reason known only to the BSA factory.

The front wheel hub, tail light, and fuel tank are all post-'67.

Mark Z

'65(lower)/'66(upper, wheels, front end, controls)/'67(seat, exhaust, fuel tank, headlamp)/'70(frame) A65 Bitsa.

I think its the other way around. "-Y"is the oil manifold and points, "Y" is the 70 models with 67 numbers.
