Hi all,
posting here for a friend who doesn't do a lot of computering. We owns mostly BSA's & wants to start into Nortons, not many for sale where he lives, so he asked me to try to come up with one for him. He is a regular guy, works on all his own bikes, would prefer a complete bike needing a full restoration, but would consider anything he can find.

PM me if you can help.

a friend of mine just did a total resto. he said only 500 were made. this I think is a 1971 yellow. idunno if its 500 only in that year or total. but they are rare and the prices reflect it.

650SS models ran from 1962 - 1967 only, the 'Mercury' was the same as a 650SS with a single carby & was made in 1968 I think as a stop gap till Commando production came online !

The US seemed to get many more of the Atlas 750 model.

The single carb Norton 650 Mercury was used by the traffic police in NZ so there are a few about down here. But to the general public they were outsold by Triumph by a considerable margin.

A good bike but not a common one.

There are some common parts with the latter Commando but the main things, frame, fittings, most of the engine are different. Other bits are closer gearbox for example is mostly the same or can be adapted but the gearbox mainshaft is a different length.
