Motorcycle and car book author Roy Bacon has passed away.
Personally I do have a lot of his motorcycle booke and have read them ever since early 1980's.
My favorite book was Gold Star and other singles then of course... and ... and ...

Here you can see some of Bacons books on eBay today

I've got his Triumph Twins restoration guide and was hoping to get his book on the T140s and his book on BSA singles restoration. Sad to hear of his passing and the knowledge he had. Must've been a smart fella.

I bought a book of his, that was mispaginated. I wrote him asking for a free replacement, just to see what would happen. In a gentlemanly manner he explained that he was not the printer, and that I should address my concern to the bookseller.
And upon reading his BMW book, I wrote complaining that it contained almost nothing about BMW's long relationship with road and racing sidecars. Again he wrote, saying number of pages confined his writing.

I sure do like his books, not finished buying them yet. He spent hour upon hour assembling photos and facts for our education- I feel like he was my college professor.

Roy's Triumph buyers guide and T140 monograph were amongst the first batch for my Britbike library and I added more monographs of Triumph and other British marques too. I added his Triumph twins and triples history and picture book as time went on too. The man wrote objectively and pithily with a careful choice of illustration avoiding the overly familiar brochure photos that were lazily reproduced in many other publications. His writing reflected his own opinions rather than repeatng those of others. I particularly recall his criticism of the TR5T and his preference of the TR7T/TR65T instead ! He gave me a good grounding in Triumph model history. R.I.P.

A top of the list, major contributor to the various British motorcycle marquees and undoubtedly responsible for educating more people than he could ever know. Thank you so much Roy Bacon and may you rest in peace and may Jesus Christ and God be with you.

I met him at Daytona back in the '90s, had my BSA D1 Bantam there. He asked me to start it up and when he heard it he said "that sounds right". A really special compliment from a legendary Bantam enthusiast!
