Installed a B50 (6 winding) kick start return spring last weekend on my 1970 B25. The spring was NOS, and installed no problem with tons of clearance. However, I find it binds and doesn't return properly. It feels like it's binding, and very tight. I had read somewhere that this is normal for the first week or 2 and then goes away, but I don't like how it feels. I have it all opened up again, and I'm seeing no makes from binding on the case or covers. So what's up? Is this normal break in behaviour? Or am I missing something?

Thanks!

Alex

Hi Alex
make sure the spring goes around the kickstart quadrant stop(the 1/4" steel pin)
I would bet the binding is somewhere in the rachet pinion
the sleve can get a bit mangled and bind
make sure the pinion turns freely (counterclockwise)
HTH
Cheers
