Today I received an email from a mutual friend of the passing. A great loss

I met him at the unveiling of Edward Turner's blue plaque in Peckham. Himself and Dave Measures had kindly travelled all the way from Nottingham just to be there and John's speech stole the show. He talked of his job interview with ET and being asked about a particular bridge in Iraq that he'd seen. Asked what he thought of it, John replied positively which was good because ET replied he'd helped build it ! John was Triumph through and through and worked for Triumph including in its cooperative phase. I wrote to him asking about a photo of a Sri Lankan man pictured with other factory personnel on the Meriden lawn. He relayed a sad story of the fellow , seconded to Meriden by the Sri Lankan police, dying in a car crash and the difficulties and necessity of repatriating the deceased back to his wife and child. Kind John had to store the coffin himself in the delay ! A lovely, sweet-natured man, John will be undoubtedly missed by all who met him. R.I.P.
