As a bit of a beer guy, I thought it may be fantastic to get other people's faves to try them! Here in Ontario Canada, were blessed with a pretty fantastic craft beer scene, so there's some great diversivity!!! However, I love enjoy hearing about what other people are drinking!!! I'm currently drinking a beer called First World Problems (the label is hilarious), and it's a Belgian IPA!!

So who's drinking what!?? beerchug

Boundary Road Brewery Arabica Dabra or Chocolate Moose. I like treat myself to a bottle of either about once a month. Pour it slowly and enjoy the smell as I sip it from a pint glass. So good!

We can get some good proper beers here now, Theakstons 'old peculiar', Adnams, Shepherd Neams, even Marsdons Pedigree.
Bloody triffic, i missed 'em. All the chemical crap that's the norm, it's like drinking iced gas water.

The best beers imo are from Belgium, these are two of my favorites.
From the Ardennes : http://www.achouffe.be/en

I'm kinda taking it easy these days. But I like good micro or craft brewed beer and ale. I like tequila too. Been drinking tequila & mexcal lately with various chili peppers or hot sauces among other ingredients.

the only two liquor stores within 30 miles no longer carry mezcal. so im forced to drink tequila instead.

I bought a 24-oz bottle of Pabst Blue Ribbon the other day.

I use it to fill my "hornet traps"; they're glass bulbs with a sort of a "tunnel" entrance in the bottom, and when the beer gets stale, the yellow-jackets and hornets get in but they can't get out. "Pollinators" don't go to it, so the honeybees and bumblebees are safe, but the aggressive, dangerous stingers stay for life.

Very useful stuff, beer.

OK, I admit it, I'm addicted to brake fluid.

But I can stop any time I want.

Lanis- that's a good use for beer! I am a bit of a sucker for Pabst as it's the best of the horse urine beers.... I've heard it described as unicorn urine instead!!

Richochet - that sounds very intriguing! What sort of combinations have you found that are worth writing down!? I don't do liquor such as Tequila but I cook with the stuff like crazy, so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what you've experimented with!

Peter- I love Belgians. The Donkers style is a particular favourite of mine! At the other end of the spectrum is Hoegaarden at the other end of that spectrum. Any sort of Trappist or abbey are usually outstanding. Got a brand new Rhodenbach Grand Cru sitting in my fridge that I may crack open later on this evening!

Beeza- being in Canada, it's difficult to get good tea!! Even though we're a colony! I lived in England every summer for the first 14 years of my life, and I was raised with the good stuff! I have found twinings here but it's different to how I remember it in England!

Nick and Mr Moulding.... all those beers sound like something I would love!!! I need to get back over to England ......

One thing we are blessed with here is local wine! So enjoying a bottle of red, and a stew!!!

I'm so angry that you Americans get beer that cheap. A decent 6 pack up here is $14.80, and the cheap stuff is still 10 bucks. Luckily, I'm only 15 minutes from the border, but you lot definitely have the right idea with private liquor stores. Ontario is the only province with a Liquor Control Board... I swear it's still bleedinprohibition up here!!

Wade, it's nice to see I'm not the only hop head on here! Here in Ontario we have benefitted from the IPA boom with some fantastic brews, from sessions to imperials.

Mike G - kudos to you! I can't drink Scotch, no matter how much I try. I need to pony up one day, with someone who has a few and try and spot some different flavours in it. I just can't get past the massive alcohol content!!!!

Alexp-If you like heavily hopped beers and ales you might like Islay style scotch. Has a dark smokey/peaty flavor. Or you might try a speyside or highland single malt...the emphasis here is on SINGLE MALT, not blended. I don't claim to be an expert by any means but I know what I like. I will also admit to being a heretic of sorts by sometimes adding a small bit of water or several ice cubes to "knock the rough edges off" .

I am not a Scotch drinker as a result of poor judgment as a teenager. I do like my whiskey though. Just finished a bottle of Redemption Rye, Very nice. Last night, I started a bottle of Jameson's Black Barrel. Also very nice. I have an unopened bottle of Dad's Hat Rye Whiskey that I will be taking to the East Coast Moto Giro in a couple of weeks. Even nicer!

I would tell you, but then people would show up at my house and drink all of my beer!

I did have "Give Peat a Chance" stout from Oro Brewing in Mesa AZ couple of weeks ago. Very simply, best stout I have had yet. An amazing beer

I have a friend who's a Scotch guy and he recommended Islay as well. I should just take the plunge and go for it!!

Tonight it's a great IPA called Boneshaker! It's a bit stronger (7.1), but it's nice because I only need 3 a night, and I'm a happy chappy. I must ask though, does anyone else notice they drank much more before they bought a motorcycle? I have a friend who's convinced his Norton cured him of being an alcoholic. As he said, I found a way better buzz, which I can't enjoy when I drink. Instead of detox programs, we just need to throw recovering alcoholics on beautiful old brit bikes!!!

Alex

i cut a two-liter soda jug in two around the equator and invert the top half to make a one-way funnel trap. mountain dew soda is irresistible to yellowjackets. in bad years i've taken a pint of drowned insects a day out of two traps on my kitchen porch, for a week or more.

i don't mind honeybees. i'll gladly take fifty honeybee stings for one from a yellowjacket.

well maybe twenty-five. depends on where they sting me. the underside of my pecker has proven to be a bad spot.

lol

I think he's already said everything that needs to be said in public .... already Too Much Information. blush blush

But I'll bet a pension check that the unfortunately located yellow jacket stings have something to do with that outdoor plumbing and the 5 gallon bucket .... !! The down side of Off The Grid ....
