Is the kickstart quadrant one piece, or is the quadrant a seperate piece to the shaft, and if so, how is it attached?

It is one piece, unlike the Triumph which is on splines.

If you are replacing the quadrant, make sure you get the proper one for your year. Later types are not the same as the earlier types...

CBS,

Thanks for that. There is nothing wrong with the quadrant, I just wanted to move the quadrant round the shaft a bit, but as it's one piece I can't do that.

If you want to get your kick lever to another angle I think the best way is to weld and grind the cotter pin keyway on the shaft to your preferred angle.https://www.dropbox.com/s/fuwh2pxj6tgcqb5/IMG_0810.jpg?dl=0

Depending on which way round you fit the cotter pin will also make a difference to how the kickstarter sits at rest .

Slipped in from the right with the nut facing towards the rear wheel the kickstart lever will sit hanging backwards
at an angle and likely the foot rubber will touch the oil tank .

Slipped in from the left & nut facing towards the front wheel the lever will sit in a more upright position
