Open "full editor" version and scroll to the page bottom.
If you are "enabled", somewhere in a lower panel you should see "attachment manager". In that, you should be able to upload photo files of a certain size.
If your files are too large, resize them in any number of free photo management programs or applications.

I found (not sure it this is still true) that you need to caption the photo and then add a small amount of text in the text body of the "reply" or post. It used to be that you couldn't just toss up an image without adding caption and text.

Best of luck to you!

You'll find a few idiosyncracies with the attachment manager. All images go into the 'same spot' in the post, so you need to determine the order you insert them into AM. You will almost certainly need to resize the images. I find 1000 pixels along the long axis usually OK for file size.

A tip for viewing these attached images. As the image is shrunk for display, click on the image in the post and you get it at maximum size.

I only used pukebucket to post images here. I got truly sick of the slow and inconsistent uploads and associated crap. Basically I avoided posting images for that reason.

Whether you want posting privileges or not I encourage members to cough the tiny $$$ amount to support the best forum on the web. This place been such a valuable source of information and more importantly sanity for me for 10 years. Twice or more of what I contributed would still be excellent value. As stated above 'there are no free lunches' and 'nothing is free'. If you want free stuff it comes with a cost in the end. Invest here and we reap the return. We get this great bargain because someone (sponsors etc.) pay the bills. Morgan deserves accolades for what he has done out of his love of BB.

I've used Flickr for several years, no ads, no limits, $25 a year. So far, so good, despite owner Yahoo's various changes.

All files are stored on my desktop Dell, and I subscribe to an automatic backup of all files to the cloud called Code42 CrashPlan.

There's probably a better way to do it.

I am trying something very similar postimage.org . Very easy to sign in, fast loading if you have already resized your image.
All my photos are on my desktop and backed up. I have marked all my 1GB of photo albums on Photobucket as private and logged out for the last time. The photos can just sit there taking up space til PB bites the dust. Which will likely be soon.

I'm with Al... I'll not be uploading into poo bucket again... but no harm in letting my existing stuff sit there, esp since I'm only at 60% allowable capacity.
I'd guess that there'll be a rush to absorb the fallout? SO maybe the disenfranchised consumers will benefit from poo bucket's muck-up.
Meantime, I'm still offloading anything that means anything me- at least anything I idon'thave backed up somewhere.

Al, I see imgbb has a 16 gb limit! SO not a lot of "free" there.... Again, tho, aint nothin "free".

Cheers, y'all.

Hi Bryan,
I hope your images don't disappear. Are you a paying subscriber to PB? As long as they're in business you should be OK. When I mentioned them not being in business for long it was sorta referencing earlier comments about how an unusual business move likely has money behind it, and that PB might fold. If they fold I promise to send Yeunglings so you can drown your sorrows. Best regards, Al.

Hi Tom, I mentioned postimage.org not imgbb. I don't think there's a limit on postimage - check this out for me - from their FAQ:

"How many images can I upload in general?
As many as you like! We do not impose strict limits on our users (except restrictions mentioned in our Terms of Service). Some users store and share tens of thousands of images, and we are cool with that. However, disk space and bandwidth are not cheap, so if you use REALLY much of either, and your usage pattern does not allow us to recover our costs (e.g. you do not publish your images embedded into links leading back to our site, thus stripping us of any potential advertising income from them), we reserve the right to contact you and discuss possible ways to satisfy your needs while allowing our project to make ends meet."

Regards
Al

So photobucket is screwed. Looks like premium members can upload 10 pictures at 300kb each using full editor

AH, I Like their attitude. If you are an account holder there post us an image so we can see how it is? heir statement about third party Hosting linking back to their site, RE advertising revenue... guess that only works if you click on an image otherwise you're viewing only the image itself?

Hi Tom, I am just now experimenting with posting photos from postimage. When you log in and bring up your images, select an image and click the share button. A menu pops up with 6 choices - Link, Direct Link, Thumbnail for forums. Thumbnail for websites, Hot link for forums, Hot link for websites. There's a button to automatically copy each choice. Skipping the website links for now - the Link button will post the url of your link and forum viewers will be directed to postimage. The Direct link will post an image on the forum with no link. The Thumbnail for forums button will put a small image on the forum which will open larger on postimage.org. The Hot link button will post your image full size but clicking on it will take you to postimage.org but only to the main page - no image.
They want you to direct people to their website so the best option seems to me would be the Hot link. That would allow me to post a full size image which would link to postimage.
This seems complicated but is all very easy. For a Hot link you don't need to use the image or link buttons on our britbike forum - just copy and paste.

huh, looking at them, they all look the same except for the thumbnail, of course. I clicked on the "hot link" photo. It sent me back to the host site sign-up page, rather than opening the photo itself in your album/folder that the photo came from.
Their page is formatted to appear almost exactly the same as M Shearer's imgbb.com site, FWIW. An advert for Indian Motorcycles comes up on both pages.

Can you also post a link to an entire album or folder? Slideshow link? Could I search your host site + user name and see your entire library of photos there?

Just out of curiosity... I have No real interest myself since I am happy with Zenfolio. Maybe since I'm paying for their svcs, I have a lot of sharing options, and I believe there are options for people viewing my images to actually purchase them when linking back to an image file within the album/folder it came from? I see I have "embed" link/code as one option also....

Here's the embedded image (code only as it turns out):

<a href="http://ricochetridersmotomojo.zenfolio.com/p715308734/e87a6af8a"><img src="http://ricochetridersmotomojo.zenfolio.com/img/s9/v92/p2275848074-2.jpg" width="300" height="400" alt="Ricochetrider&#39;s Moto Mojo: Triumph 6TA &emdash; " /></a>

EDIT: Hmmm.... OK here it is again aded as a link

EDIT: linky no clicky no worky.
Cannot click on the embed code either, it seems. I'll try to copy/paste the code ...

Here's the image using the "image file" option in the Full Editor header

[Linked Image]

EDIT: copied/pasted embed code into a new tab... this is what I got:

Your search - <a href="http://ricochetridersmotomojo.zenfolio.com/p715308734/e87a6af8a"><img src ... - did not match any documents.

Suggestions:

Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
Try different keywords.
Try more general keywords.
Try fewer key
wor
ds.

SO... not sure what embedding an image is good for...

Tom, yes, the Hotlink photo (the last photo) will take you to the sign up page. Clicking on the thumbnail will open the full size photo from my album on postimage.

Your questions..."Can you also post a link to an entire album or folder? Slideshow link? Could I search your host site + user name and see your entire library of photos there?"
Can i post an album - I don't know yet.
No slideshow.
No you can't search me unless I provide a link. This site is very basic and does not have "photo collections" and "viral photos". But no, it is not for someone as involved (and talented) in photography as you are.

Peter, the size of the photo will be what you uploaded to postimage. (Unless you select "thumbnail"). They have a resizing feature and you can either turn it off or make a selection of posting size. My images are usually 900 to 1000 pixels wide and they are uploading very fast.

I have figured out how to create a new album and how to upload to that album, but I can't seem to move an image from one album to another.
Regards
Al

Worked with Hot link to forum to forum option. I found it tricky to get the full link copied from the photo on Postimage but finally got it to "select all"!
Thanks a lot Al.

Pukebucket just trashed my third party posting. I has 124 photos uploaded. They can sit and rot. Perhaps they are going alphabetically, my surname starts with 'S'.
