Here's a seemingly stupid question - how does one remove the front hydraulic damper/ shock absorber? As I attempt to remove the lower eyebolt, it is too long to withdraw - the bolt head butts against the left fork blade and can't be pulled through. Do I really have to dismantle the forks altogether and take the left blade off? I have consulted Messrs E.M.G Stevens and Richardson's books, the owner's handbook, and various articles on the net. All recommend removing the shock at intervals, but none explains how to do it. I'm hopeful there is a simple maneuver that escapes me. Grateful for any help.

It is staring you in the face Paul. Undo the nuts securing the eye bolts to the lower link.

Phelps.

DUH! Told you it was a stupid question! I'll put it down to lack of sleep and working on it at midnight. Thanks, Phelps.
