Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance emerged from a 17-day motorcycle trip that Robert Pirsig made from Minneapolis to northern California in 1968 with his 11-year-old son, Chris. It became a bestseller, sitting on the bookshelves of a generation of earnest students, thumbed if not always read.
This book has been a gift to many from my Wife and me, our Son and Daughter that ride, friends that ride, it is more than the Zen of motorcycle maintenance as you know, the sub title states it best, An Inquiry Into Values. I will have to read the book again soon.
I was very surprised to hear that he had been living right here in Maine for the past thirty years.
Rest in Peace sir.
