Shane,

Always wanted to give the bike a run to Vic. Considering joining the road train. Been meaning to join the local beeza club for a while. Sounds like about time.

Cheers

These dates are great. I was concerned that if it was earlier it would be in the middle of grape harvest and fermenting. Hopefully everything will be in the barrel by then.

The more the merrier, Ray.
The Qld crew are a nice bunch, so well worth joining.

If you have some time free in October this year, come down to the BSA National at Cowra as a test run.

I started this thread way back so I could get an idea of how many loaners I need to try to organise. I think you're only about number 4, so you're covered.

Are you planning to fly in to Sydney and ride down, or fly into Melbourne and hire a car there?

Shane,

That shocks me that a bike is available. Let me look into which city I can fly into on United......I have tons of FF miles I can burn. No doubt this will be something you have to request a year in advance in their program shocked

Shane,

Good thought. My run to Sydney this weekend has been stuffed up by my necessary crank repairs. I grew up not far from Cowra smile

It's only going to be good weather for ducks this weekend, anyway.

There are supposed to be quite a few pre-War machines kicking around here, but they're still a bit thin on the ground. Prices here seem higher than the UK, too.

All sorts of people and bikes turn up at the All British rally at the end of April, so I could ask around for you.

Fabulous! Springtime in Sydney sounds swell! Then a leisurely ride to the rally...this is all coming together very nicely.

In the immortal words of Hannibal Smith - I love it when a plan comes together.

Western Sydney in November can be a bit like Phoenix in May, so bring your summer riding gear. It's possible to ride to wherever the rally will be held in a day at that time of year, but that doesn't give much time for sightseeing. 4 or 5 hours riding time per day seems to be a reasonable compromise*
It should be a fun ride on some nice roads.

[*] This applies to mere mortals only. Semper Gumby will probably have to ride from Perth or Rockhampton to get enough riding time in wink

Seeing as though I'm in Vic I'll be there, it'll be good to put some names to faces, just have to wait a year and a bit.

Are you going to be at the All British next weekend?
I'm cheating this year, and riding the Hinkley rocketship down. It will be keeping a Commando and an M20 company at the camp ground.

If you're not going Mick then your bike wil be free....Just kidding.

Shane I might be able to get down to this. I'll be in Queensland working but I have a significant birthday in October and might make this my birthday present. I don't have a BSA on that side of the Tasman but. Will they let me in the gate on a Norton?

Those coming from overseas might want to tag the Lap of Tasmania on the back of the rally. Beaut riding roads, great seafood, tiger snake mating season etc etc. I've been around in a motorhome. Can't wait to do it on a bike. Allow ten to 14 days I reckon. Longer if you can.

Thanks for the update, Roy.

It looks like it's either a longish day's drive down the world's most boring road from Sydney with the bikes on a trailer, or a mostly nice 3 (easy) day ride down the coast and across the Snowies taking in lookouts and tourist spots.

SE Victorians and Tasmanians get the Great Ocean Road and run up through the Grampians, snd I imagine the South Australians will come up through the Grampians as well.

PS Come to think of it, another alternative for us might be to drive down to Torquay on the world's most boring road, and ride from there.
