I have the high pipe exhausts both exiting on the left for my 1961 A10 Spitfire and whilst I know where the mounting point is on the frame above the rear of the primary can anyone help out with some pictures of the mounting clip and maybe how to secure both the pipes and the heat shield. It would appear that the hardware for the high pipe mounting is not available so I will probably fabricate my own. Pictures sketches are very informative so whatever anyone has would be welcomed. Thanks

I can take a few pictures this weekend and post on Monday if someone doesn't add some pics prior.

A few years ago when I was looking for Spitfire parts I found a company in Australia that made reproductions. At the moment i can't seem to find their information.

Here's a close up of the bracket, not quite as nice as the one shown above. They are hard to find. I imagine they would fall off or were tossed as something not recognizable.

The shield was mounted off of one pipe. It used the tee clamp like what was used on A10 muffler brackets. There was a stand off shouldered hex nut off of the end of the tee bolt that the shield was mounted to using a slotted screw. The Spitfire Hornet used a shield that was very similar only a bit narrower.

So. the pipes were mounted to each other, but were they mounted to the frame? If so, how?

In Dave's pictures of the exhaust system you can see in the first one that the pipes were bolted together by interlocking tabs bolted together. You can just see it after the first swept bends at the front of the cylinder with the horn behind. The bracket I posted a picture of that wraps over the two pipes has a hole in the middle for a bolt that threads into one of the toolbox bosses cinching the pipes to the frame. Again in Dave's first picture you can see the bolt head in the middle of the bracket.

Thanks, Boomer. I see it now.

A simple solution without making the frame 'special' to the Spitfires.

My understanding is that the Spitfire frames only had one boss on the frame for the exhaust pipe clamp bolt and no passenger peg loops so the spitfire frame was a modified standard frame made for that model. Kind of special as its not standard
