Into the distance a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction is holding me fast how
How can I escape this irresistible grasp?

The Lovely Rose and I are huge Elvis fans. Love the rhythm of the late 60s Elvis, "Suspicious Minds" in particular.

But I won't turn away some Journey, 80s music, Beatles, 60s music, Mozart, Beethoven, Back, Tchaikovsky.

Never had a strong passion for music but have always enjoyed the quieter side. Never got into Rock and the heavy stuff, lets put it this way the first concert I ever went to was a Peter Paul and Marry concert and the second one was The Beach Boys. Growing up in Honolulu back in the day (50's 60's) there was not a lot going on concert wise. Then one nigh 6 years ago being a big fan of Jay Leno I saw this 11 year old and things changed for me music wise. After looking around on You Tube I realized it wasn't just the music but it was her as a person that had such warmth and true joy in every thing she does. In this day and age where little Hana Montana is twerking in front of the world and the Kardashian's are looked up to like gods to the younger generation I had just about given up hope for humanity (not really) but close. She is now 16 and has been around the world from Europe, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, I saw her in concert in Costa Rica and three other concerts on the west coast. To this day she is as sweet, humble and kind as she was at 10 and I have no fear she will go off the deep end. She has some great parents that have done a wonderful job bringing up all of their four kids. Her voice has just gotten better and better every year, just hope I'll be around when she is 30 so I can hear her then.

On Jay Leno

Just three years later in Detroit

Her solo voice is so pure but there is an added benefit when she performs duets, Andrea Bocelli, Sara Brightman, the Canadian The Three Tenors and Peter Hollens and others.

This was just last week from a PBS Special, not the best sound and video.
Jackie Evancho and Fernando Varela - A Thousand Years - Fernando Varela

She will have a new album out in the middle of April. New album

I am part of whats called Jackie Junkies clap

Last thing I had on the home stereo was an older record by the Waco Brothers. Kind of a punk/country/rock vibe. Noisy, raucous, punky and fun.

Traveling around Inlisten to the radio. East coast/north Jersey I like WFMU out of Jersey City? "Freeform" radio, lots of crazy rock, imaginative music, avant-garde, experimental stuff, and some good ol noise and sounds.

Around Baltimore I like WTMD out of Towson. Awesome new music and some later "classics".

I listen to podcasts, as well- streaming thru my phone. Ben Baughn's The Many Moods Of Ben Vaughn is a favorite.

My 4-year-old granddaughter wants to learn the words to the "Lilongo" so she can sing while she dances to it. So we've been singing together so she can learn the words (in Spanish). So that's been about it for the last few days.

OK, I admit it, I'm addicted to brake fluid.

But I can stop any time I want.

I also walk my dog along this ditch after work.

And catching up on this missed album.

I knew it, I knew it, Nick ! Under that crusty, cynical exterior was a real heart ! You'll do, china. ( for a transplanted pom !)
Oh, and I forgot to add Burl Ives to my previous list !

I'm quite passionate about the music and have a wide range of interest but mostly Rock and Roll or Rockabilly, something with a strong beat... Out in my shop I listen to alternative rock on a local FM station.....Right now I like Blood in the cut by K Flay...

It's 94.1......They play alternative rock but not like it's an underground FM station...WBER 90.5 is more like a college alternative rock station...

I also listen to Panora...Early Rolling stones and other blues-rock...I dance in the shop...still got the moves.. grin

Funny you mention Green Day. I'm posting this from the downtown arena in Washington DC. Where we just hung the rigging for Green Day's show tonight. Stagehands are still setting up on the floor below as I type this.

Al, most stations stream live, and some have podcasts or other feeds-
so you probably can listen on your phone, device, or computer.

Check out KEXP out of Seattle!

I found this link a while ago, streaming radio is nothing new but the site helps visualise just how amazing of a technology it really is.
Reminds me of sitting in front of many a radio in the past rolling the dial around and listening in on long wave...

I have a large sound system out in my small workshop and play selected LP's , cassette tapes, CD's and podcasts. Currently playing on this cold and rainy morning I have:

EMI by the Sex Pistols....currently blasting loudly

American Band (CD) by Drive-By Truckers ....up next

Tar paper Sky (CD) by Rodney Crowell....to follow

Faces....lots of Faces.......enough said

Rebuilding my shop has been fun adding new lighting and more sound and another computer.....loving this for sure.

I am plugged into GLT blues stream most days. Turned me on to a lot of new people that are keeping the blues alive. When I first ran across GLT I heard GLT where Howlin Wolf Lives and I thought Yes!!

Tonight it's a new copy of Procol Harum Live which I picked up at McKay's. Full orchestra and choir on LP.
Finishing up St. Pat's Day with a little Rory, '74 Irish Tour.
