Help! I want to remove the timing cover on a '75 Interstate. It is loose (1/4 inch gap) but something is keeping it from coming off and I don't want to break anything. Anyone ever run into this?

Let me be clear...my Haynes Commando manual refers to the complete piece, held on by 12 bolts, as the "timing cover". Thanks

yes, and you have to remove the auto advance unit (or rotor in case of Boyer, etc.) first, then the wires will still be going through a hole in the back of the timing cover, and through the right-hand crankcase.

Other than that, there are a couple of oil seal which should already be free if you have 1/4 inch gap, and the rocker oil feed pipe.

if you have removed the oil feed pipe and the wires that enter the timing cavity from the back, then my apologies for posting.
