Last time I had it, I was in Iraq in 2003. The Doc gave me what they call a Z-PAK and within the week I was back out on ops. Good stuff !

Pneumonia is sneaky. It can actually kill you, under the right circumstances. Please take it seriously and follow doctors orders, take the meds etc. - it won't go away if you don't pay it respect!
Never had it myself, but I know people who have had it. A couple of my friends didn't pay proper attention and ended up quite sick. Seriously ill.

Be careful with it get plenty of rest, and hydrate hydrate hydrate.

It's a few years ago, but I ended up singing in bed in the middle of the night and though I was sober I do not remember it...
The wife took me to hospital and drove home alone.

She was coughing badly last January after she flew back from Brazil. Airplane airco we thought. A bit worse than just a bronchitis, the doctor said. Pneumonia was the diagnosis though she was not in bed with it.

It has several levels, depending on the germ and the constitution of the person I think.

Depends on whether it's viral or bacterial. Viral is pretty rare actually, but you'll know you have bacterial pneumonia because you will have a fever. Most are caused by anaerobic bacteria endemic to the environment but brought on by a depressed immune system sometimes because of a virus.

So, as stated above, take your antibiotics religiously, hydrate, but also deep breathe and keep your airways clear of mucous. You can do this by hanging over the bed, head down, and coughing to remove that stuff. Have someone clap your back with cupped hands if it is tenacious.

I did this kind of work for 25 years. I never had anyone die from it, but then we always had plenty of meds and ventilators if things got really bad.

Cheers,

Bill

Mac- I had it a couple years ago. I thought it was just a bad chest cold at first so like most guys, I just ignored it and went about daily life. Until I started hacking up green stuff and could no longer take a deep breath. Doctor put only put the stethoscope on my back in one spot, didn't even ask me to take a deep breath and told me the diagnosis. Immediately put me on a Z-Pak, some steroid and a cough syrup. Took a full two weeks before it fully cleared up. All I can suggest....DONT MESS AROUND AND WAIT LIKE I DID! Follow Hawaiian Tiger's recommendations. Good luck!
