Just curious....haven't seen him on here in a while. He is a storehouse of knowledge on these old bikes. Never condescending, always helpful and respectful to people like me (see: knows just enough to be dangerous).

Saw a cam thread question recently posted by Dick Harris and it made me think of him. He would have rattled off the degree specs in a NY minute!

I hope he's doing well....

Cheers,

Steve

No, he is not, but I don't know anything specific - just short note on Triumphrat forum from John H.
Would like to hear how he does as well.

John Healy's comment was Pete is dealing with personal health issues...No other info was posted...If any of you know his last name then a Google search might turn up something....

Or maybe send him an email ?

peter.j.r.1952@live.com

I think he may have mentioned that he was also a member of one of the prominent vintage motorcycle clubs or maybe I'm thinking of someone else. Will have to do some digging.

I checked his stats over at The Jockey Journal and last activity was on July 16, 2015...which is the same date of last activity here on BritBike.

I've missed him as well, both here and over at jockey journal. Always pertinent, relevant posts. Informative and helpful, never any bullsh*t.

Word is that Pete R passed away recently.

He knew so much about these old bikes and went out of his way to share his vast knowledge with us.

I will miss his presence here.

Godspeed, Pete.

I'm so sorry to learn of this, but thanks for the update, Steve. Pete was a pure genius, and always willing to help by sharing his knowledge. He will be missed. Indeed, he already has been for some time now.

That is terrible news. I will certainly miss his wise words and I hope that they have Triumph motorcycles wherever he may be now.

There is a posting on www.triumphrat.net in the Lost Riders area. Perhaps someone smarter than me could do a link

S'easy ... smile

. Open another tab or window (depending how old your browser is) and go to the thread you want to link.

. Click on the page address - e.g. "http://www.triumphrat.net/lost-riders/671314-mr-pete.html"; it should go your preferred 'highlight colour' (usually blue).

. With the cursor still on the highlighted web address:-

.. either right-click - brings up a 'context menu' - and click on "Copy";
.. or do "Ctrl+C" - hold the "Ctrl" key down while tapping the "C" key once.

. Come back to the tab/window you want to post the link in.

. In your post, click on the "Create a link to a webpage" icon - here it's the one with the globe and a chain link.

. In the box that comes up, highlight "http://" and:-

.. either right-click for the 'context menu' and click on "Paste";
.. or do "Ctrl+V" (hold the "Ctrl" key down while tapping the "V" key once);
.. the web address you "Copied" should appear. bigt

. When you click on "OK":-

.. BritBike goes to a second box where you can either paste the web address again or write something more meaningful to appear in your post before clicking on "OK" again;

.. TriumphRat goes straight to your post with the web address and HTML tags while highlighting the second web address; just start typing anything "more meaningful" and it'll appear in your post in place of the highlighted web address. bigt

. When you "Preview" or post, your link will appear highlighted and clickable:-

http://www.triumphrat.net/lost-riders/671314-mr-pete.html
or
TriumphRat CVV forum thread.

Hth.

Regards, smile

This is a tremendous loss to our community. Pete had more intimate knowledge of the inside of a Triumph motor than any single person I've ever heard about. I learned more from him, also, than any other enthusiast.

And he was a great gentleman if that wasn't enough.

RIP Pete, yer a good one ya are.

It begs the Question: When and how do you show appreciation to someone, before they walk on while they are still here?

I mean, that's kinda and important in the art of life innit?

I try but make no claim of being good at it.

It's always the question we certainly we all ask ourselves in that moment after someone we know has passed..did they know we appreciated them?

Well, I sure do appreciate you forum members, I tell you that. I have been helped and supported by you all in so many little ways.
No one here has ever done anything other than be friendly, helpful and good company as we bimble along.. and that's pretty amazing I think.

What Bodger said, Pete R. will be missed and his wisdom and demeanor helped make this forum what it is and to me at least, one of the most civil and informative forums around. Take no relationship for granted, easy to say I know...M

As someone who's both asked questions and answered others', a simple "Thank you" is very, very rare but much appreciated.

I didn't know Pete apart from his posts here and the TriumphRat forum and our pm conversations, and wouldn't dream of trying to speak for him, but I know he appreciated a "Thank you" too.
