This is a proposal for a continuation of the campout started by Tim Kirby which some of us have been supporting the last few years. I'm looking for comment and input. I'm suggesting that this year we have this event here on our farm on a ridge in the hay meadow up behind the buildings. Bring your tent and sleeping bag, I'll bring a fire ring , wood, and benchs/chairs and source a plastic out house. There are enough eateries nearby that cooking would not be necessary. I see this as primarily a riding weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and I have several destinations of interest in mind for fairly short trips. We could easily spend the better part of a day hustling along the many rural black tops of hilly southwestern Pennsylvania observing the flora and fauna while watching for shale gas water tankers and local livestock (deer and turkey) on roads for which our old bikes were designed. As far as when, I'm suggesting the weekend after Labor Day. I'm located between Burgettstown, Pennsylvania and Follansbee ,West Virginia.

Input gentlemen!
Ben

I can't commit but I would love to attend.....how close would the weekend after Labor Day be to the OSMR?

I'd probably only be able to do one of those if they were close.

At 64....I need to just retire...but I don't want to right now....even though work is REALLY getting in the way of the fun this year.

Thank you Mr Ben for putting this on.....Gordon Gray (aka Pokey)

The date is just a suggestion to generate comment and interest. On my end anytime in August or September is good except Aug 7 thru 9 which is the OVBSA Rally.

Some advice from a younger man who retired earlier -

If you don't want to retire because you're afraid you'll be "bored" or won't feel like you have a "purpose" - Forget that, it's not gonna happen. You'll be busier than when you were working.

If you don't want to retire because you've honestly run the numbers and you don't think you can stretch the new income to cover what you need .... I can tell you that if it's "close", then retire; you'll spend less than you thought you would!

Either way, enjoy life ....

Lannis

Seems to me Labor day will be the 1st of Sept. this year. That's a Monday. Weekend after would be 5-7 Sept. wouldn't it?

Looking at last year's calendar again? That's a sign of something, but I'm getting too old to remember what it is .... !! laughing

When I suggested the weekend after Labor Day I had not checked a calendar, either 2014 or 2015. My inclination now is to go with the weekend before Labor Day, August 28, 29, 30. The way the weather is going I'll probably still be making hay and I could use the extra help.

On a serious note, that would space around some other events more evenly.

Comments?

Ben

I am likely going to be in Europe or just heading home from Europe around that time.....so probably not going to be able to make it frown

But, if plans change........
