My bonnie needs new tires, it's got the traditional Dunlop K81 on it, but I was thinking of going towards something with more of a scrambler type tread or more of a blocky tread. Just wondering what everyone uses on their later OIF bikes.
it's got great reviews and the price is definately right. I can't afford 100+ dollar tires right now. What do you guys think?
That one looks more like a trail bike tire to me. As to Shinko, I use them on my Kawasaki KLR 650 -- take a look at Shinko 705 -- they perform well on pavement and last a long time. Looks like you can get the pair (from motorcycle superstore) for a little over $100 (plus tubes of course).
Dunlop Roadmaster TT100's (K81) 4.10 X 19 front, 4.25 X 18 rear. I'm not a racer, but I'm not what I would call a 'sedate' rider either...last year, I rode around 200 miles through the mountains of TN, NC and VA on wet, damp, technical (see: The Snake) roads and they performed without a hiccup. The only caveat I have is that I probably have to replace the rear tire a bit more often that a more 'traditional' tire (Avon's, etc...),

On my road bikes are a mix of Roadrunner upfront and Roadrider outback (TSS) and all Roadrunner (mk1 at front) (TR65) and all Roadrider (TSX). All combos work well for me although sneaky suspicion that TR65 worked better with a Speedmaster upfront.
On the two Trails are what I consider to be the best dual purpose block pattern tyres: the Continental Twinduro. They look the part and more importantly do the business. I've taken them to the Pyrenees and back, no trouble.
