Can anyone tell me the piston-bore clearance required (road use only)?, I have a .040" wiseco from Phil Pearson. Do I just follow what it says in the BSA literature or is the modern stuff different ?

Different brands of pistons have different clearance, original pistons were cast and your Wiseco is forged !!
Ring Phil and ask him what the Desired clearance should be..

The clearance is indicated on the label on the box for each piston. I have Wiseco pistons in both my Goldies and just love them.

FWIW I recently sent a new 90 bore Pearson cylinder to Bore Tech to bore to fit s GStaron designed Venolia piston at 3.5 thou clearance. A good fit seems to me.
BTW my son Joel's Yamaha 450 pisons are fit at 1 thou clearance. Water cooling is a Great thing eh?
