Semper did you do any oil changes on the road? Just curious. 6000 miles is a long way without.
Yes. I dumped the oil and changed the rear shock springs at the Yamaha place in Petaluma. 3000 miles is my interval for fresh Valvoline VR-1 20W50. I didn't change the spin-on filter until I got back to Atlanta though. I gotta hand it to Hagon - they sent me some stiffer springs gratis to the KOA in Petaluma. That got the rear end working right for the tremendous load I was carrying. I should have check the valves there too but was having too much fun....
BTW - The Yamaha mechanic working on my bike had one Whitworth wrench in his box. I didn't ask but he gave it to me! He said "You probably need this more than I do."

Gaggle of BSAs a Honda an old BMW and a Montesa Parking lot Elf in training
I'm surprised it didn't get commandeered as it lay in the parking lot of the Blowing Rock Inn.
Yea....I bet I was the only person in that parking lot that knew how rare that thing was/is. Okay....the truth be known it is rare but it's also BSA unit single...so I might have been one of only two or three others in the parking who would have even cared....
Either way....I sure am glad I found it and it wouldn't have happened if Alex hadn't helped me....oh and for the "boys" for hauling it across the country for me.
Thanks fellows.....sure is good to have friends like you guys...Gordon in NC (aka Opie)
