It's done.
And it's not done.
What's done is done.
And what's not done will
just have to d@mn well wait.
For tomorrow is another ride.
Not as far perhaps
but just as important.
The meeting of friends
in far flung hills
once again.
But first a bit of sleep
before the miles to go.
I can hardly wait.

Sleep and then away...

Standin on the rock
High above the Linnville Viaduct
And who should pop by...
I thought
"My that's a strange sounding BMW"
But then I was like
Oh wait.

Home again.

Todays' adventure: Fog on the Blue Ridge Parkway -- about 100 feet worth. One time I lost the car in front of me. Had to slow down from 25 mph!

But what a great day for a ride! Off the BRP onto NC215 then SC281 (i think) over the hill to SC107 -- great sweepers. To the Tunnel Hill Express for the last of the least expensive gas. And then Unity church road to GA 184 through Toccoa GA by Churrahee Mountain. Still following GA184 to GA 63 to I85 for a slab run into Atlanta.

The bike is still running great with 53,713 miles showing on the odometer and no major breakdowns (other than a flat tire) since I started this Ride back on the 4/27 at 46906. That's 6806 miles over 21 days.

So cool. I feel like I do it again tomorrow.

TSMR 2014 was fantastic bookended by saying goodby to to friends I knew online but met for the first time weeks ago in Petaluma. What an amazing ride. Thanks again to Gordon for putting on a great time. Thanks one and all and Safe Travels.

Now tonight I'm sitting around in a funk. The last three weeks have been so full of purpose. For the last day it is hard to do anything other than stare at the Thunderbolt that has been so much a part of my life on the road.

So tonight I finally grabbed a 1/2 wrench and a socket and unbolted the Aux Tank off the back. It is damaged. In fact it has a number of small cracks that are seeping. The BSA has done its work and found my level of metallurgical incompetence. Deiter had the solution of course in his own quiet way suggested rubber silent blocks to isolate the vibration. So all is duly noted and the tank is off.

But dang if it doesn't feel like Merlin un-stringing his harp.

Well Bill, you probably ought to put Pokey in the barn with some oats and let him rest.
Not sure what you'll do now after those quantum leaps across the continent.
Perhaps you could take up flying or something, you might turn out to be a good pilot!

Pleasure meeting you in Petaluma, my hat's off to you, the true longrider.
