I have a circa 1980 Shoei S-20 full face helmet that's like new. Unfortunately the visor has become scratched. I can't seem to find any online or elsewhere. It's the visor fitting the flip up with two push rivets at the top and a push snap on each lower side.I'm not afraid to modify a different shield if any of you have ideas. Thanks

I think in those days the visor is simple polycarbonate plastic and can be polished. No special UV or polarized coatings. If you can't find another visor, get a headlight polishing kit for around 20-25$.
You can make it like new again.
Cheers,
Bill

Not a good idea to rely on a 1980 helmet for protection unless you can still get medical care at 1980 prices! Over here one day in hospital will cost about the same as 10 decent helmets. In 1979 I spent a week in hospital after hitting a car with my helmetted head at about 60 km/h.

(Thinking of Michael Schumacher and hoping for a good recovery)

wise choice.

I gave away (lent and never got back) an old Griffin Clubman that was my favourite (and only) full face helmet.
I loved that and it looked great but was too old to be safe

I liked the Shoei for the same reasons

Have you tried these folks?

http://stores.ebay.com/Vintage-MotorCycl...from=&_ipg=

They carry all the vintage stuff. They actually have a NOS S20 for 200$.

I can dig that you might like to wear a vintage helmet. I wouldn't mind one of these again. I got one free from Simpson when I was riding speedway in the late 70's. When it broke, they gave me another one. How sweet a deal is that? It's called the Darth Vader, well as a nickname, anyway.

I liked it because it had the collar bone relief. If you ever had a helmet break your collar bone, then you can appreciate that.

Cheers,
Bill

Yes,I found those shields on eBay...But ,to me,40 bucks delivered for a 35 year old helmet visor is one more reason why I bought a new helmet.
