Which make, model and year single cylinder bikes used the NC1 magneto? (or is it KNC1 ?) I am going to sell this one for a friend but I cannot find exactly which bikes this fit. Any link, list or website would be appreciated, thanks!

Swan,

You might want to buy it from your buddy and keep it yourself as a spare for your goldie. According to the ID tag (fwtw) what you've got there is a March 1960 #42348E KNC1 for BSA B32 and B34 "Gold Star" Competition Models.

There were basically two versions and it depended on the distance between the center of the shaft and the base of the body. The longer distance was mostly used on BSA singles, (the Alloy Clipper being one), and the shorter distance, which was mostly seen on AMC singles like Matchless G80CS or AJS singles. Same mags except how they mounted to the engine. That model being for BSA singles was for bikes that needed no provision for a generator or lighting.

Thank you all very much. My friend Skip said it came off his old G80 Matchless, but it is for a non-battery Goldie.

J in KC, where do you find that chart?
