Well it's 0130 Christmas Eve, and Im stuck here at the flight line at Concourse C at Hartsfield...Having a Union job has it's ups and downs, but only being able to select one major holiday to have off stinks...Sure I have 18 years seniority, but there's 200 other mechanics in line behind me to bid all the remaining holidays off, and unfortunately, Christmas WASN'T the holiday I selected. Planning a get together Friday with my family, so it ain't all bad...besides, working the holiday means special pay too....Hoping a large percent of you are not having to work, like me, and take advantage of the holiday to spend precious time with your loved ones, as we never know if we'll be offered another...I hope Santa brings lots of goodies for your bikes, or what not...I have hinted around about a new headlight for my '66 TR6, which is "superglued" together, but doubt anyone took the hint...but thats okay, just glad to be alive and have what I have...Merry Christmas to all, and have a safe New Year....THE DPO from "Dem Georgia Hills"....

Merry Christmas, Mark and everyone. Try and make the best of it. With luck, you may never have to do it again. For 8 straight years I went in at midnight on Christmas and Thanksgiving. Hope Santa is good to you and all the rest. Greg

Merry Christmas, y'all. We've got to do a better job of getting our wheels on the ground in the same place next year.

I had my Christmas 'cheer' this morning. Now, I must eat my dinner, take a short nap and drive to Memphis.
The show must go on!
Don't be sad DPO, at least you still have a union, double time on holidays.
Merry Christmas to all!

Oh well, Santa didn't bring me a headlight, but all family happy, and Im happy it's over....I have 3 nights left on graveyard shift, and I start my new shift Wednesday, 3:00 pm till 1:30 am, with Sunday, Monday, and Tuesdays off...I will have 5 weeks vacation, and 12 "floating" holidays to use, so getting a 4 or 5 day weekend shouldn't be difficult for the upcoming season...getting the "itch" already!!!

Today is Christmas at our house.

Kids did their Christmas with spouses families and then came here today. Doing the whole big dinner and everything. Should be 14 of us for dinner.

Hope all of you had a Merry.

Holidays all depend on the line of work you're in .... If you're doing something that has to be done 24/7/365 (handling airplanes, standing by for fires, generating electricity, refining oil, caring for sick people or old folks, milking cows, etc), then the work NEVER stops and someone has to do it .... and the dairy farmers don't make OT premiums for getting up on Christmas morning at 0-dark-thirty when Santa hasn't even got home yet!

I've done some of that, but had a nice Christmas off this year, good family times! New Years will be fun and relaxing too, complete with a New Year's Day ride with the local Harley contingent!

Lannis

OK, I admit it, I'm addicted to brake fluid.

But I can stop any time I want.
