My question is this: I f i'am running a Boyer electronic ignition , what kind of plug wires and caps do i run ?. supression ones or stock . The reason is this , after i fixed my oil pump problem i put back the cover and timming stuff as per specs when i took them apart . Now the problem is the damn thing will not start !!!. I have checked the timming about 3 times , rotot position, flywheel notch , pionter on stator lines up with cover pionter . I also checked the piston with a tdc guage all looks good . Now i'am running a dual fire 3 ohm coil...which ran great before i took the oil pump off . allthough i think there was a missfire issue with the plugs acouple times. This is the symptoms checked Boyer box as per specs to see if i burned it out if i touch the wires together the plugs spark. Okay so when i take the right side plug out and ground it i get nothing , about 10 kicks later there will be a spark . the same on the other side . some times they will both spark then stop after a few kicks . I have changed wires caps plugs . checked the wires etc. I'am i getting rf frequency interuptions or is my black box crapped out . I took a ohm measure on the coil and it read 2.8 ohms but before when it was new it read a solid 3 ohms . Well i have bought a 4.2 ohm coil for electronic ignitions to try . Any thoughts would help out greatlly as i have been struggling with this for awhile , missed a mc trip to baja as well cause the damn thing won't run ...YET!!.........thanks guys ......66lightnig conversation piece.

Black, with original breaker point ignition OR Boyer analog, you want copper HT leads. Suppresion is required for Boyer microdigital, but that system produces a higher secondary voltage - with standard coils you need as little resistance as possible.

FWIW, I was using some old wires that were corroded where I couldn't see, inside the insulation near the ends, and they were producing some wierd and inconsistent symptoms, primarily when hot. So you may want to take a good look at those wires if they're old. If that doesn't pan out, you may have to resort to the "What did I touch last?" approach...
