Triumph or BSA, I'm guessing BSA (Triumph are shaped different, but it might fit).

It won't fit any Norton i can think of, and i don't think it'll fit an RE either...

Not BSA, either unit or pre unit as far as I have ever seen.

GP: The unit BSAs take a drive off of oil pump area at the front of the engine and do not have a box as such.

The BSA pre-unit singles and twins had a box like the one below mounted on the timing cover and being driven off the magneto.

MGB used a 90 off the tranny - so who's to say it's not off a car?

It's a unit Triumph tach drive, but not as late as '79, they have a different shape.
