Hi,
Can anyone tell me if I can use a mainshaft from a standard box in an RRT2. I see RRT2 boxes for sale with standard internals, but I understand that the oil feed arrangement is different. Would this be important on a bike that was used for very low mileage and at at steady speeds?
Any help will be sincerely appreciated.

Hi Ted
I assume you mean replacing the mainshaft of an RRT2 gearbox with a standard shaft. To do this you would have to replace the needle roller in the sleeve gear with a bush, as the std shaft has an oil scroll at this point, the RRT2 shaft is .003" larger and plain where it runs in the needle roller. You would have to make a bush as the STD one is smaller on the O/D than the needle roller. The RRT2 sleeve gear has one radial oil hole to the needle bearing, and if my memory serves me correctly the bush in in the STD sleeve gear has three.
Brian.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for reply. I think I will get the correct mainshaft and do the job correctly. Many thanks for your help.
Regards
Ted
