Hello, I am french, so sorry for my poor english. I own since 3 years a BSA S29 (4.93 OHV "Sloper" two ports, 1929 year)and I have 2 questions about this bike : first, I would like to buy a new carburettor, the one in place is really worn. There is no indication on the body of the actual carburettor, but I think it's a AMAL 276. Is this model really convenient for this bike and if yes, what is the right model : 15/16, 16/16, 17/16 ? Despite there is no smoke from the exaust I find the oil consumption too hight. I know there is not scraper ring in this engine. Is somebody has an experience with this bike and could answer this two questions : right carburetter and normal oil consumption ? Thanks a lot for your help. Regards. Paul 50
Welcome Paul, yours is a rare model so it may take a bit for someone to answer but they will eventually. A 276 sounds like a later carb than that originally fitted, are you after the correct as it left the factory carb or one that works. The original carb may have been a T25 but that is very speculative.
Thanks a lot, Kommando, for your answer. I am looking for a carburettor which works well (and whith an appearence close to the original one)not this which were in place when the bike was produced by the factory. Regards. Paul
