Hello,
I am french, so sorry for my poor english. I own since 3 years a BSA S29 (4.93 OHV "Sloper" two ports, 1929 year)and I have 2 questions about this bike : first, I would like to buy a new carburettor, the one in place is really worn. There is no indication on the body of the actual carburettor, but I think it's a AMAL 276. Is this model really convenient for this bike and if yes, what is the right model : 15/16, 16/16, 17/16 ?
Despite there is no smoke from the exaust I find the oil consumption too hight. I know there is not scraper ring in this engine. Is somebody has an experience with this bike and could answer this two questions : right carburetter and normal oil consumption ?
Thanks a lot for your help.
Regards.

Welcome Paul, yours is a rare model so it may take a bit for someone to answer but they will eventually. A 276 sounds like a later carb than that originally fitted, are you after the correct as it left the factory carb or one that works. The original carb may have been a T25 but that is very speculative.

Thanks a lot, Kommando, for your answer. I am looking for a carburettor which works well (and whith an appearence close to the original one)not this which were in place when the bike was produced by the factory.
Regards.
Paul

You should look at the pre Monobloc AMAL, period looking and being made new. Only avaialble in 1 1/16 though

For a smaller carb then the Monobloc would suit
