Well I'm off to Cape Cod to see the parents. The 1971 Thunderbolt is loaded and aux fuel installed. Nine gallons useful fuel.

Might try to make a IBA SaddleSore 1000 out of it. But I've already been up a bit long today for that so perhaps not. (Your safe Richard).

I'll drop in Monday or Tuesday if your around Skeet. Give my cell a call please. four oh four seven niner one O seven O four.

The only number I have is for MikeG. I've lost phones for Lannis, Tom and Skeet -- please call my cell above.

ATL i85 i77 i81 i84 CT something or other heading SE to i95 out to the Cape. Weather looks perfect. I'll be up in Vermont midweek so hopefully I'll have time to drop in on MikeG. Gotta get there first though...

Away.

(Hope it starts)

Bill, You son of a gun, you're at it again. True britbike.com hero. I'll stay off the boat Monday & Tuesday. Lift and tools will be made available. Any problems and I'll taxi you up to father John's. Hornet and I anxiously await to greet you. Be safe.

Just talked to Bill. He say's he is in Harrisburg PA. Everythings fine, Should be rolling in here tonight . He's rolling along at 70mph.

HEY TOM . He can't understand your phone number on his phone. If you can post it on here, or try him again, it would be helpful.

That's incredible. I can't believe that the A65 is holding up for this sort of riding, much less the solid-Gould posterior!

In case he needs a phone number, mine is 434-352-8574.

Anxious to hear how this goes. Last time, he stopped here at the house on the way back home (once the world record had been set) and he's certainly welcome again anytime!

Made it safe and sound onto the Cape. Got to the ancestral home about 2am. The GPS says about 1207 miles including the detour around the rolled over semi at mile marker 85 on I-81 in PA (north of Harrisburg). Tom - tried calling three different possible numbers. It's not your fault. I have a crappy tracphone. When I grow up someday I hope to have a real phone.

Got rained on near Charlotte NC like the sky was falling. No lightning or hail. Apparently I beat the rain onto the Cape. Weather today was just perfect.

Full report when I wake up. Time to sleep nowzzzzzzzzzzz...........

Well...awake at last.

Washed the Thunderbolt today. Added oil. I have a standing invitation from John Healy to drop in which I hope to do on Wednesday.

While washing the T'bolt today discovered a broken weld on the LH exhaust tube where it mounts to the forward motor mount. I called John who told me I should call "the girls". This would be friends of Skeet up in Truro MA: Gege Porges and Jeanne Gaarder. They are motorcycle people of the first order: A whole basement of tools benches and old bikes with custom hand-fabbed farkels galore. On the lift was an BSA A10 getting new internals associated with a rebuilt generator. On the floor are a 1972 TR6 with a Joe Hunt mag, A couple of custom HD sporsters, a first year Buell Lightning. There were tanks hanging from the ceiling and a Honda Dream in the corner. And the there was the Japanese IMC (?) two stroke which will probably go to the Barber Museam in Alabama.

Jeanne had the weld sewn up tight in 10 minutes and then we spent the rest of the time talking bikes. It was paradise. Jeanne is the person that fabricated beautiful stainless muffler mounts for Skeet's Hornet. They are works of art. Gege is the mechanic of the family tearing into motors. The A10 had a dial gage on the piston for setting the timing. Unfortunately I had to go home for dinner. So it was with much angst that I had to leave.

Thank you Skeet to introducing me to you friends. They were worth the price of 1206 miles of admission. Sometimes when I close the door behind me and kick the Thunderbolt to life, I don't know where the road will take me. Today was proof positive that closing the door behind is worth the risk. I owe you Skeet.

I just don't know how I will ever repay you.

I count my blessing every day. Peace.

Honored to be a part of your adventure , the stuff of legends these days. ,your A65 w/Givi luggage on custom mounts puling down my driveway was a treat , a real roadworthy ride, well tricked out for dependability. Enjoyed visit from one who drools over this stuff like we do.

Nice to meet you Bill. Be safe.

Bill, You don 't owe me a thing. Just keep a close eye on them when you see them at Barber. If something happens to them I'll be up the proverbial creek. Here's some picture's for you.

Rolling up at my driveway prior to exhaust repairs on that amazing Thunderbolt.

Repairs done. Exchanging info with "the girls", or as I call them "my kids." My wife calls them adorable. Whatever, two very special, talented motorcycle people.

That fabricated Hornet high pipe exhaust tied into T120C muffler you mentioned. Top notch.

Here's that IMC?
Kurt Fischer, Check out that Zundappy fender you like so much.

Great story and pix! My fave part is about the women Brit/vintage bike folks. That's seriously THE best thing I've seen lately!

Silver Day on the Cape. Caught Stripers off the tip of Monamoy Is. this morning down in the rips. I landed one that weighed close to 30 lbs. The fish are taking squid patterns.

This afternoon its raining. (hurrumph) Might have to go for a ride anyway...

Hey Bill, Don't know when you're planning your return leg- I'm off Thursday AM but gotta work at 2:00 PM, then working all day into the wee hours on Friday. Off Saturday and Sunday daylight, then working at 10:30 Sunday PM.

The Triumph Come Home Rally is in Oley PA- near Reading, sort of west of Allentown, off hiway 61, which intersects I-78. If you're coming this way over the weekend- it might be worth a stop!

Either way, you're still (and always) welcome here!

You're going to have to pull your socks up and keep the throttle pinned if you're going to tag along with that "riding fool" .... I think he thinks it's an airplane, and riding from Georgia to Massachusetts in a day is "normal"!

He has a license to fly 500mph through the sky and thinks it's valid on state highways, too. It's going to be brutally hot this weekend, so stay hydrated, Bill. Not likely, but if you have any trouble on the last leg from here to Charlotte, give me a call. Greg
