I have been working on my gear box for a broken third gear layshaft dog, at the same time I have been replacing the drive sprocket, rear sprocket and chain with a 530Xring. All completed thanks to Ola.

Today I started on installing the primary drive side, new chain, tensioner, tensioner bolt, cap, oil seal washer. Well I striped it down 8 weeks ago, took pictures and left in place as much as I could. Took pictures that are not doing me much good now.
The parts book shows shim engine sprocket #4 and distance piece engine sprocket #5 going behind the sprocket. The shim fits over the splins and slides up to the bearing, the distance piece is smaller and will only go on the shaft up to the splines. Did they make a mistake, and the shim goes behind the sprocket and the spacer in the front?

Will also be installing an SRM-Pressure Plate Kit. Any tips that might make it go smoothly?

Much Aloha for all the help that I have gotten here
Roger

Looking at your photo I think the distance piece is already on the shaft. That is not the bearing inside the seal.

The other distance piece that will not slide on could be for under the mainshaft nut in the clutch.

Without frequent roadside repairs there is no fun in riding!

Thanks Gordo

You were 100% correct...don't know how the distance piece for the mainshaft nut for the clutch got over to the other side.
