Well I'm really conflicted this year. John and I have been thinking about substituing a road trip for VMD . Just head southwest and see what develops. Having said tha I would like to see the crew but have also always wanted to attend Wauseon especially with several big thumbs up from Bonzo over the years.
Decision,decisions,decisions!!

George,
I will have to say, the two events are very different venues.

We have the Rhinebeck National AMCA meet down the Hudson a ways and as with most AMCA events it's mostly focussed on US bikes but occasional Brit stuff shows up. I bought my Woodsman there a couple years ago. But that's a one day event for us and I thought maybe camping at Wauseon would be cool. I've never really been on a long trip on a bike so that has some appeal also.

Well you aren't going to get a longer trip out of going to Wauseon, it's only 50 miles west of Mid Ohio. Unless you go by way of Georgia.... All depends on what you want to do. Being retired, you can do just about anything... We will miss the helping hands....

Well, if yer retired George...

You could set-up at Mid-O on Thursday, get through the swap meet area by Friday evening, plan to get to Wauseon Saturday morning, check it out, make your purchases, if any, then head back to the camp ground at Mid-O. Finish up Mid-O, and dismantle yer campsite on Sunday, then head for home.

Of course, if there are any of the other events or races/exhibitions you want to attend at either venue, your itinerary may change....

Strangely enough when I told SWMBO that John and I were maybe gonna do a road trip she said" How many weeks" Not sure if she was joking or looking to set up appointments with the pool boy.

Don't know what scam will work for a Thursday entry into MO this year. Could I wear my Kneivel suit and say I was part of the stunt show ( think Elvis in his most porky rhinestone jumpsuit era!!!!!!).
Hell the weather is so nice maybe I'll leave tomorrow and not come back til October.

Well George, if you are looking for long riding, I know this guy in Stone Creek that could set you up well for riding southeastern Ohio roads, riding companions, shelter and such. Did 200 miles with him in an afternoon, never on the same road twice. From his location, SE Ohio West VA, & PA are all in easy reach.

Never fear my man, We have ways of gaining entry on Thursday every time we go. There is always a backup plan to the primary as well.

you think these guys would get together and get their schedules so they would not conflict but I guess thet would make too much sense
I was a swap meet vendor at midohio for many years until they decided my space was "prime" and took it from me,after complaining all I got was that they would give a non prime spot instead,my space was empty last 2 years, all this was after the ama fired will stoner, this is just an example of how things are run there, they said last years was the "biggest" yet,no overflow vendors, many empty spots, their calculator needs new batteries (Lucas?)
I'll be there again this year regardless, maybe I'll finally hook up with you guys in the campgrounds

Smitty,
I was there with 'em from their start in westerville, and their move to the party barn grounds, and then Mid-o.
They got greedy, overpriced their slots, and I quit.

Besides which, doncha know, if y'aren't hardley, or gol d'wing attached, y'aren't worth worrying about?

Arrogant bunch a'bar stewards, they are! Seems they are more interested in what's in their wallets, and not the motorcyclists they are draining monies from.

Last year I missed mid-ohio to go to the international Norton rall in New York, this year I am going to give up my swap meet spot of 5 years (last year I sub-leased it to a friend) to attend Wauseon, I have been to both events, mid-ohio is obviously huge, but most of it doesent apeal to me (road racing, Jap bike parts) Wauseon is an older event, many american bikes, but also very eclectic, I bought a '55 Dot trials bike the last time I was there!Looking for Norton parts for the Nomad this year!
Any one want to lease my spot at CC4 before I turn it in? Its not far from A FOOD VENDOR & RESTROOMS!

I hear you. They haven't treated the venders very well, I have heard this from before the AMA & AHMRA spat & before Will Stoner was let go. Prices going up, failure to remove trash, dogs & cats living in sin... you name it.

It isn't as eclectic as it was, but it has always been a venue for many things. Road racing, Trials, Cross Country, MX,Flat track, stunt & demo rides, swap meet and some darn nice roads to ride your vintage bike on. Camping is good, they provide nice showers & bathrooms, decent food on track and close by. This event has always been about the people that come and it's a venue for the folks who banter here to meet and trade stories etc. We set up the compound, throw the cook out & bike show to bring those people together at an event that can provide entertainment all weekend.

It may decline to a point where the venue needs to change, but it hasn't dissolved to that point yet.
