Hello
Can anyone tell me if the 1966 68-5139/40 headlamp bracket is interchangeable with the 1967 68-5177/78 version? I have seen new 68-5177/78 for sale but my bike is a 1966 model and the parts book lists 68-5139/40. I can't find new 68-5139/40 and the ones that came with my basket case will need to be rechromed. I'm not sure if these are correct as they have a hole rather than a slot for the headlamp mounting bolts.
Thanks
CAB

Brackets/shrouds with a hole are for A10s and the 1964 A65 Rocket. I've no idea as to the difference between the 66 shrouds 5139/40 and the 67 5177/78 as they are both the type which requires the ring clamps to hold the gaiter in place. From 1968 onwards, the shrouds had a flange around the bottom to hold the lip of the gaiter and a corresponding ring on the oil seal holder. I have a pretty large collection of A65 headlamp shrouds acquired through buying odd ones at jumbles for a few quid. I personally cannot see why the 66 and 67 shrouds should not be interchangeable as the forks and yokes are the same. Be careful not to buy the 65 shrouds 68- 5102/3 which are shorter due to the dropped top yoke.
