I have a 1961 Matchless G3 that was given to our tire shop as a form of payment. It has been sitting in our shop for over 5 years and I'm on a mission to find the history behind it.

All I know is that it's a Dutch Courier bike. Any additional info would be much appreciated. The taillight does not have metal cage around it. Thanks guys

Here's mine. DomiRacer had a ton of them in the '80s (2 for $1200). I drove mine to Beckett MA for the Jampot Rallye and back to eastern PA with no problems.

Original exhaust system was silver painted rust so I got a stainless one from Armours. They bought several chicken coops full of these bikes from England after the Dutch Army got done with them. This was a big Bob Schanz deal. The tanks were mostly all dented. They told me it was because they literally threw a bunch of extra cylinders and heads into the ocean-going containers after they loaded the bikes. I saw a shitload of them and had my pick when I drove out to Cincy to pick it up. Also got a '51 rigid framed 350 Matchless from Singapore when I was there. $1200 for 2!

Russ

With that said how much do you think one of these would be worth on the market today?

$2000 maybe? Got mine about 25 years ago. It is the most comfortable bike I own and not a world beater but just a classic working single chugging along. And I don't care if it gets rained on. I love it. This winter I'm converting to 12V and going to a Pazon Sure-Fire ignition system.

$2000?! Wow, that is a lot less than I thought it would be. But economy is tough I know.
