Hi All,Been lurking on this site for awhile but mostly on the Triumph forum having recently completed a build on a 1969 Triumph Tiger.I recently purchased a basket case 1962 A50 Star which I plan to restore into something custom. Possibly a cafe racer / custom bobber and am going to need the assistance of the folk here. I've started tearing down the engine and am finding it extremely hard to move the lump around on my bench. I am looking to fabricate an engine stand to mount it onto and hoped that someone here has some type of design/dimensions that could share. I was pleasantly surprised after taking the head and jugs off! Pretty clean so far. Pictures to follow once I figure out how to upload them!

Thanks silverfish

Pictures would be great! I've had good luck using Photobucket. Download, re-size, click on IMG code on the drop down on a photo, and paste on BritBike. You'll get the hang of it.

Wow...looks like somebody did a number on that frame. Motor doesn't look bad and still has the genuine low comp pistons. It also looks like you got an early pre-unit nacelle with your pile. Could be a fun project....I'd be looking for another frame, tho.

A smattering:

'67 Royal Star
'71 Rickman Metisse
'40 Silver Star
'37 Rudge Special

Yeah. Some grinder happy monkey cut the rear off! I'm thinking of rewelding a custom tail section on that will allow me to use the standard rear suspension. I will do the engine first then the wheels / front end / tank then mock it up and decide what to do with the frame.
