Lovely XK. Didn't they call those dropheads? Something like that. I also like your CB77 in the garage, even though it's not a Brit. I had a 62 Hawk, and it was one of the best running bikes I have ever had, well except for the time the throttle stuck wide open in traffic. I've got a later 85 Jag XJ6 that I just love. Great cars.

I always lusted for Jags, but never did get one. The CB77 runs great, the CB72s are really hard to find now.

Enjoying this thread and how its evolved into old Jags. An old High School friend and I used to race any thing we had. His future wife owned one of the early 3.8 E types. I believe they were faster than the 4.2's. Anyways I had a new 69 Thunderbolt that was very quick. We would start off side by side and I used to watch the rear tires spinning. Always was amazed he never ripped the spokes out. I would cook him real good up to near 90mph, at which point I would shut down knowing full well that he would come right on by. Used to frustrate the bejeesus out of him. grin

Just finished getting the Hornet running sweet. Time for a ride & a quick road test. bigt

A few shots for you then Skeet. This guy was either fearless or foolish, maybe both, but he sure enjoyed himself. Had the back end loose lots of times.

Mike, Thanks for those pictures of Loudon. Many good memories from up there. Both bikes & the sporty cars. There is a dip in the track at your vantage point. Used to get the sidecars all wonkie right there. Thanks again.

I went for a ride yesterday, first day of "winter," it was sunny and in the 50s. The Brit bikes are stored for the winter, so I rode the KLR 100 miles, a lunchtime loop.

on the ride to the hospital yesterday, my car thermometer said "70" degrees! probably wasn't exactly that temp, as the car had been sitting in the sun, but it WAS in the 60s! i'll take it, winter be GONE.

Tom (wishful thinking)

Merry Christmas, y'all.

Merry Christmas everyone. Unlike Kurt, the Brits aren't put away for the winter. So after finishing my chores and waiting for the feast , I decided to take my annual Xmas ride around the neighborhood. First stop is one of the many saltponds here in town. Notice the Mute Swan flapping its wings. Learned how to flyfish with a popper for Snapper Blues on the incoming tide, here in the 50's.

To the rear of the bike, just across the street is this Herring fish ladder. Not many of these around here anymore.

Further up the street it turns onto this nice dirt road through the woods for about a mile and a half.

It leads out to this boatyard, closed for the winter. In the summer there are usually 40 or so beetlecats out here, like the green one in the background. Notice how high the tide is on the walkway out to the dock.

Out onto the pavement again looking back at the inlet. Nice shot of the TR6.

Snowflakes in the air, time to head home but not before stopping here. Nice freshwater lake, and a great spot for Trout.

Hope you enjoy my short Christmas tour and again Happy Holidays to all.

Regretfully I have had my last ride (ever) and did not take any pics, it was only in to town to deposit a cheque at the bank. Getting way to good at falling down when I walk, so thaaaats all, folks. Not quite all, actually, you people are fun to hang around with, even if we are not going to meet up on a narrow twisty bit anymore.
Anyone interested in a genuine flathead twin cylinder hardtail?

Hey wait a minute! mad Aren't you guys supposed to be covered in about 6 feet of snow by now? What's going on? Is this global warming or something? It's been nudging 40c here for the last couple of days so all you folk up north are supposed to be freezing by now?
Hey seriously though, nice pics Kurt. Your countryside looks beautiful. One day maybe I will get to ride through it. It's on my bucket list.
Mike have you thought about putting a third wheel on the old girl? Won't fall over then. grin

Mike, does sound a bit scary. When I visit my Guzzi dealer, I do look over the Piaggio 3-wheeeler -- plan ahead!

Skeet, what a nice ride. I'll have to ride down your way to experience your back roads and create a two-Tiger photo-op.

Mark, never can tell about our winters, but so far, lots of riding to be done. One local biker has logged rides every day so far this December. (See pics on FB by New England Sport Touring.)

Skeet - Nice pics.....isn't Crystal Lake just north of Boston?

Suppose to hit 50F here tomorrow....with the holidays and a bad oil seal on the timing cover repaired, I haven't ridden since before Thanksgiving!!

Definitely getting out tomorrow afternoon for a brisk bimble!

Mike - Sorry to hear all that. I can relate somewhat. Been to see a neuro doc. myself this past year. Still hanging in though, but it's scary stuff.

Steve - Crystal Lake no. of Boston? Different one altogether, and 50 degrees? Thats a real heatwave. Get out there "ya bastid". laugh

Kurt - Sounds like a plan. Maybe we can get a couple of more brittbike.com Massholes to partake. I'm thinking btour & Mr. Moderator. I'll get another 69 TR6 trucked down here for him to use. Either that or he can get son Tom's 65 on the road or even better he can use the Norton (fat chance on that one). grin

Oh and Steve, "Bastids" are always welcome. bigt

Mike M......dammit, hate to hear the news. That really sucks....

But, going for the last ride of 2011 tomorrow. Going on the appliance and meeting a like minded group for lunch. But I promisee, the first ride of 2012 will be on a Brit bike and most likely Sunday grin

The weather in this part of the world has been exceptional for this time of year. Maybe we are finally getting the long awaited "Gloabal Warming" Al Bore promised would happen. Usually we have snow on the ground by now. Today, was in the mid 50's F.....I will take it grin Was out on the appliance, 2 Brit bikes, and the trials bike bigt

It's great to see a lot of us are taking advantage of this unusual warm winter weather. Today I decided to jump on the "Hot Rod" to check out the dock down below. Strong winds the other night, so I wanted to make sure it didn't float away. You can just see it behind the bike between the cedars. I think its older than I am. crazy Need it though so I can get to the boat "Proud Mary". Another one of those foolish names. grin

Anyway, the Hornet has probably had its last ride for 2011. Unfortuately, it stalled on me and was a bugger to restart. been a problem for some time now. It appears as though its running way too lean at idle. Check out the blued exhaust. Have new pilot jets for it, but "Lazarus" kind of got in the way of installing them.
Tomorrow is a new day so I'll dig out the Norton and ride around town for some more pics.

I hear Sunday is another warm day on the books and I am planning a ride of some caliber with Dave M and or any one interested so give me a shout if you want to hit PA roads on Sunday.
