Need info re: bike shipping from USA to England

I figure some of y'all do Isle of Man and other international races, and have the fast track on easy way to ship bikes to the U.K.

I'm trying all resources to ship BritBodger's Rocket III to his friend Harry Knight in the U.K., and the quotes I'm starting to get back sound ridiculous at $2,800 - $3,200.

Help?

Paul,
right this minute might be a good time to get room in a container with a group bound for the BSA Rally in Lorely. contact all the USA BSA clubs to see if anyone's shipping bikes over.

also ask Bryan Jones who he used last year, shipped into and out of Philly.

you might also try international airlines or winged shippers, i know of folks who FLEW their bikes across and toured Europe, then flew the bike home. you might palletize it and catch a plane out of El Paso or some other airport in the SW?

The Empire rally logistics was already mentioned, may be the best bet.

I'll look into the BSA one as well.

Others are also saying air is the way to go, besides one guy that said I ought to ride it to NY then put it on a cruise ship!

Hi GP
On my way out just now but later when I'm home I will dig out some contact details of folks who might be able to help get Malcolms bike back to UK

Beezabryan aka Bryan Jones smile

Hi Tom I'll see what can be done.
Any bikes going to BSAOC Lorelei will be left by now, only two weeks to go before we are all there bigt

Hi Paul,

I believe that there are dealers here in the UK who ship container loads of bikes and parts from the USA on a semi-regular basis. I'll make some enquiries to see what I can come up with.

If it is true, I,m sure that one of these dealers would be able to squeeze an extra bike into a container and it shouldn't cost too much!!

Hi GrandPaul,
Can't offer any advice on shipping, but as I only live half an hour or so from Liverpool docks and you decide to ship it there, if you need anyone to meet it or even transport it from there to Harry's house near Darlo, I would consider it an honour in Bodga's memory.

Cheers

Bob

You guys are great, I appreciate the help.

More certain details should be consolidated by next week.

For my bike, shipping Felixstowe UK to Virginia Beach VA USA, it was $780 for the actual shipping (included pickup in Chatham) and about $400 for the ancillaries (fees, warehousing, etc).

Someone's getting rich on $2800 to ship.

I stopped believing for a little while this morning. Journey is really going to be upset.

Paul,

Further to my last posting some enquiries made over the weekend resulted in two dealers who might be able to help.

1:- Rob Reaney email r.reaney@tiscali.co.uk
phone 44(0)1246 411977

2:- Bill Botfield email billbotfield@btinternet.com
phone 44(0)1580 715889

Apparently they both ship containers with bikes and parts from the USA to England.

In the meanwhile, I'll make more enquiries. You can't have too much information when trying to arrange something like this.

Beezageezauk.

Yes, Harry has advised that he has some contact info coming in as well.

A big blessing is the fact that UK law has provisions for inheritances, wherein he will not have to pay import duties or taxes on the bike coming home.
