In WallyWorld I notice they carry a Champion power sports plug number 8902. It's a fine-wire electrode type.
The package says it replaces N3 or N4 types.
Has anybody tried them?
Any good?

Thanks

David
I checked the Champion web site and the say this is a racing plug
I'm surprised the package says it replaces N3 and N4 type.
I could not find any cross reference for 8902 = N3 or N4
as you said this is a fine wire electrode (copper??) plug
with a heat range of 16 !!
Not sure if this would be a good plug for a street bike
but may be worth a try.
Keep us posted
Cheers

Thanks Dennis.
I checked Champion and couldn't really find out much.
Perhaps I'll gamble $7 just to see if they work.
N4's have always done it for me.

For $7 I'd say it was worth a shot. I recently had the adventure of trying to find a set of Champion H18Ys for my son's 1963 Rambler American 440H w/ power pack. No Rambler jokes please, I'll chase anyone sideways down a dirt road if they snicker even a little bit! Anyway after several attempts at new old stock I went for the modern equivilents. We needed the damn plugs... the previous owners had 3 different types and makes installed and none of them were correct.

Champion listed a 857. OK, I'll take 6.
When the package arrived I was amazed to see 857 on the package along side H18Y.
The plugs themselves are marked H18Y.

So.... yeah, tell us how it turns out.

That's the way it goes these days. The Champion catalog number is different from the plug number. Go into Pep Boys and ask for a Champion N4 and they look at you like you dropped in from Mars. You must have the catalog number before they even know where to look.

Who says government is the only organization which can obfusticate the heck out of things!!
For example, just try to cross-reference the casting number on the part in your hand to the catalog part number. Don't tell me government is the only source of red tape.

Bean coumters find such things as obscure part numbers important David, you must try to avoid being cynical.

The customer must be pissed around as just punishment for being always right.

David, I haven't bought any lately, but Advance Auto stocked N3c and N4c in their small motorcycle section. Skeet, I was a huge fan of Mark Donohue and Trans Am racing. I saw him race at Road Atlanta many times. He got too much air under his CanAm Porsche one race, and looped it completely over on the back straight. His winning the Trans Am series in '68 and '69 in a Camaro was one of the reasons that I went out and bought a '69 Z/28, when all my friends were in love with big block cars. I was shocked when he was killed. Strange, I was just looking at these old TA videos a few days ago. Greg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yMire-5jK4&feature=related

Greg, I knew you were OK. Don't want to ruin this plug post but saw Mark in his earliest days at the old Thompson CT track when the B Production Shelby GT 350's first came out. You could tell then he was going to go on to bigger and better things. I made it to Brazelton twice in 72 & 73 for the SCCA yearend runoffs. Was there on my 72 CH the first time. Never forget the big A Production Cobras & Vettes coming up the hill after the first turn. The ground literally shook. Absolute heaven. grin

We are going to have to chip in and get a vibrator for your rocking chair when you can no longer fire up that BSA Scrambler... laughing

Yea, Greg, I have no trouble getting the man at O'Reily's to find N4's. The Advance here only carries N3.
