Not mine, someone should jump on this for $1250. (maybe a typo? $12,500 ?)

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/mcy/2126576746.html

The ad: "
65 BSA DBD 34 500 cc, This is an unmolested example of 1965 motorcycling, it is known as a scramble or dirt bike, this bike is a little rough but all there, the trans moves throught the gears fine, the chain is rusted some as are the wheel, handle bars and the chrome shocks, please notice the inside of the fuel tank....how clean it is....but also notice the tank is ALL Aluminum and with no dents so it could have the paint removed and ploished to a mirror finish. This is a great bike for restoration of a correct period piece.
If you are a serious buyer and want to see more pictures email me and I will send more, but hurry its on eBay too and Im already getting calls.

I have ALL the original paper work, including the title and the original invoice from the Dealer to the Buyer, from 1964, the Califorina title is is good condition as well, this is just a cool bike great for a winter project, with lots of dollar potential when its done, im doing house cleaning now and need to get rid of some of my 5 motorcycles.

thanks and hope to hear from you. 1-714-456-6509 "

Looks the early bird got one big fat worm. Or perhaps they seller realized his error, but the post has been deleted. Hopefully, another Goldie will be restored to its former glory.

It is not worth $9000, but worth half that.

OK, I admit it, I'm addicted to brake fluid.

But I can stop any time I want.

Yeah,
Probably a 1963 model sold in 1964 or 65 and titled as such. The photos in the original CL ad were definitely a DBD34 Gold Star.

The seller's ignorance on the year led me to believe the he really was selling it for $1250! I thought he had no idea what it was, but perhaps a flurry of phone calls prompted him to raise the price.

Exactly Swan, listed if on eBay as well as craigs list for $1250, he got a ton of calls prompting him to find out what he had. It is a 1963 Catalina Scrambler first registered in '65.

Here is the Craigslist Gold Star now on E-bay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BSA-DBD-3...e#ht_2144wt_950

Note the "rare 19" front wheel" and that this a "58 year old" 47 year old motorcycle.

This would have been nice to pick up for $1250!

It is a "Bitsa".. yes I spotted the "C" below the engine number, it is a scrambles frame, but it has the standard Clubman exhaust.. and not a Competiton frame, if that is what you are thinking.. To my knowledge the Competition Goldies had frame loops on both sides.. this one does not... and the engine number appears to start with a "7"..? Are my eyes correct.? Am I correct..?? (note it is easy to put the large GP carb on a scrambles head..).

I would guess it's a Competition GS. My '63 Comp came with that tank, frame, rear brake/sprocket, etc. except mine and others I've seen had a 190 mm front brake. But there's no telling what BSA did with their GS pieces at the end of the model run. Hey they even built up twins with left overs.

The seller e-mailed to say the gearbox is a " SC T".

That "year it was titled" thing only carries you so far. I mean, if someone said they had a "1955 Corvette, First Year For Corvette", or was selling me a "Stock Original 1975 BSA A65", I would think I was getting sold a bill of goods. Or that the owner really didn't know what he had, and Caveat Emptor in spades!

It appears to be a competition model. "C" stamped between the G.S. Bolt on rear sprocket,1-1/2" GP2 & full wrap around head gusset.
$11,500 plus a $10K do it yourself restoration and you've got about $21-$22K in a $18-$20K bike. Maybe more? Got to be a labor of love. Sure isn't a money maker.
