Does anyone have a summary of which bikes use which rotation direction magnetos? Perhaps there is a Lucas reference guide somewhere?

I've searched the forum and Google and can't find anything.

By the way, did you know that Google offers a specific "Britbike.com" search? Once it found a couple hits on Britbike, it offered to search the Britbike archives for me! Never seen that before. How cool is that? It actually works much better than the forum search, which I have never had much luck with.

The Lucas Spares manuals will have detailed info on application, rotation, spares, etc. Rotation is as viewed from the drive end. All post WWII AJS & Matchless twins & singles are anti-clockwise. Cheers, Don.

Thanks Don. Don't have a Lucas spares manual, but perhaps there's one on-line somewhere?

It would just be nice to have a list of common bikes that use the same rotation mags.

This has me wondering , what way does the p.U. Triumph spin? I am outta town at the moment and can't check it but I seem to recall it was the same as the A-10 ??

Well, the arrow on the mag label points to the rear on the '61 Triumph. The only A10 I have handy to look at doesn't have an arrow, but I do have an Ariel Huntmaster handy (which is sort of an A10 clone), and the arrow on that label also points back.

So that means that both are counter-clockwise as seen from the drive side.

Maybe we should just start a list! grin

Just checked a couple Nortons, an Atlas and an SS, and they are both counter-clockwise as well. So far, every bike mentioned on this thread has been CC. Maybe the question is, are there any clockwise rotation mags? I looked at a couple others, a Velo and a couple mag-dyno bikes, but couldn't see any indication of direction.
