Very, very nice! I sold my Venom Clubman Special years ago and still regret it, the only bike I really miss. The Velos truly are unique and probably one of the nicest bikes to own and ride. Enjoy!

AWWW , Come on Big L' we both know you been thinkin' 'bout one of these for a long while ?? Ron T was showin some interest in a Velo a while back ?? When GOLD S-TARVIN gained almost instant notoriety with his meticulous Clubmans Goldie (awesome bike , testament to the mans attention to detail ) , the guys that went from raggin on him about bein a "Goldie Snob" started talkin about buyin a Goldie ?? Glad to see you are at least thinking outside that box ??? Singles have never been my thing , but I will admit there is a certain thrill in bein smoked by a Goldie on song at freeway speed , but I have never heard an exhaust note that got my attention like a Velo clubmans model ??

To be honest , Big L' I think you would be most happy with an A-10 , prolly a super flash /Golden Flash ??

I have completed the rebuild. Bike has been started and all works as it is supposed to. I am still sorting out clutch adjustments.I will get that soon. Thanks for all the help from the britbike community. John G.

The clutch adjustment and sprocket cover is off until I get the clutch sorted out.

John it's gorgeous. Would you mind rocking it up on the center stand in front of a nice background and taking a picture for possible inclusion in the Forum's 2009 calendar?

Thanks.

John - that looks really great.

I noticed it's the later frame - where is the frame serial number located? Is it in the usual place but hidden by the petrol tank?

I'm about to get the ball rolling on a '61-'63 era Venom Clubman Mk1 project and was curious about the slight differences between the earlier and later frames; the ones like yours which were made to take the larger fuel tank. Due to availability, I might have to use a Venom with the earlier style frame which was still being used on Standard models until '63ish, which means that the frame serial number will be hidden beneath the 4 1/4 gallon tank. Under U.K law the serial number must be visible for M.O.T tests......

Hi John,

I've enjoyed looking at your photos, it's a nice machine! I used to own what was dated as a 1966 MSS, and it carried engine number MSS13154. Since both of these bikes are in the U.S., I just wondered how close that is to your bike? Since there were very few MSS models built, especially in the mid-60s, it would be interesting to see how close they were. Here is a link to some pics:

http://autos.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/velocette/photos/browse/6969

The same spot some of your pics are. I had mine dated by Goodman Engineering at the time I bought it, and the factory records said it was indeed a 1966, which is how it was titled. Shipped to a dealer in Michigan. It had Miller electrics, Woodhead Munroe shocks, and seemed to be unmolested. I bought it from Baxter Cycle, got it going, and made many improvements on it. Sold it back to them around about eight years ago to finance yet another bike. I'm back on a Velo as of two years ago. Great riding machines, that was a long six years!

My velo #'s are 13145. Mine was built in England for Clois Duffie. He was
the Dealer in Central America ( Panama) for Velocette. He ordered his bikes
through an outfit in England called Pride and Clark ltd.
It was ordered in 1965 and finally titled in 1967. According to the Velo
owners club the engine was built in 1965. I remember this bike coming out of
the crate in 1966. and I am the third owner.

Bonzo - As usual, you called it ... I bought an A10 shortly afterward .... but this Velo is about the prettiest motorcycle I've ever seen.

Hope it's still running and doing well ...

I saw this beautiful red Velocette at the AMCA meet in Eustis, FL during Daytona Bike Week in 2009, if memory serves me correctly. Introduced myself to John Gough and learned of the color selection - very affable man to talk with. Later I think I saw this same motorcycle offered for sale in the Garage Sale section for $10K. My question is did it sell at this price, which seems more than reasonable if you followed the entire build? One can always dream!
