The pricing information is from 2008, the news items are out of date too. Are they still in business. I don't want to emal them to find out because I am not in the market right now and would only be asking an idle question. If I do wind up selling my RC30 my plans may change, but for now it is just curiosity.

The ABSAF company is still very much alive and produces Goldie engines, their website urgently needs some updating indeed. Prices for these engines start at approx 6500 euros.
There also used to be a small company in Germany called SMA racing producing DBD34 as well as AJS7R and Matchless G50 engines, but as fas as i know this company is no longer in business.

I have one of the ABSAF standard 500 engines in my Goldstar Featherbed. I got it from Frank Deihl, the US importer; Classic Cycle Works in South Carolina. He has all the necessary parts.

I bookmarked Deils site for future reference, maybe if I save my pennies and nickels. Tell us about your bike, what do you think of the engine and the workmanship? I'll search for your other postings as well.

I used the 500 standard engine in an Atlas featherbed chassis. Has a Powerdynamo electronic mag, Mikuni carb, Norton trans, 12v neg ground system for the mag, Grimeca 4 leading shoe front brake, Atlas rear brake. Chronometric gauges, my own wiring, Bob Newby belt drive. I had a few small teething problems, turned out well. The engine is stronger than my real Goldstar, workmanship is excellent. I don't know if I can post any of the pics I have on here because of the size. I can email you a few if you want.

What Bill said. I have an ABSAF from Frank Deihl too - see Goldie for sale in Garage Sale. Fabulous motor, no trouble whatsoever. Way stronger than my standard Goldie. My original motor was shagged, this was cheaper and better than rebuilding the original. Exterior finish not as nice as BSA but I like it. You can't go wrong

Cheers

And there are lots of good engine and related parts out there..! Cranks, pistons, etc...

Oh yes, and add Phil Pearson to the engine and engine parts list. Phil makes cranks "to order" - this includes non-standard strokes- both long and short stroke, and flysheel size... all good parts.

Cheers..!!

Ron
