I was putting the oil tank on the project bike (engine is a '68 Lightning) and hit a snag. No way were the oil feed lines going to fit in the appropriate hole so I started to check for frame #'s (I hadn't ever done that) I find that the frame is an A65 HA (can't read the rest) so one book tells me it is a '67 Hornet frame. My ?. is there a specific oil tank for that frame? I do have a tank that is supposed to be a hornet tank, but it is way to big to fit unless there is a special way of screwing it in plus the one I tried to install. Any help would be appreciated. I just want to get the engine running after a complete rebuild.

Steve , A few pics might help , but a few thoughts come to mind . First , is it possible that you have an oil tank from a unit single there ? I have had some from B-44 that look nearly identical to the A-65 other than the oil line routing .Also , it is usually much easuier to install the oil tank with rear fender and tool tray removed . Finally , I have seen the larger oil tank on the Hornets , batteryless systems . This might be able to fit your frame , maybe some minor mods?(different tabs??) but there wont be room for a standard battery . If you dont plan to use this , I might be interetsed in swapping something for it, I like the idea of more oil capacity .
